i want to know the ability of gis in modern war

Great question Are you talking about G.I.S.: Geographic Information Systems?

G.I.S. is something that actually started with the army...given the use of weapons systems, individual infantry member/vehicle tracking devices and the general leaps forward in the science since its' first inception (I studied it at Uni ten years ago when it was really quite a new science) then it has never had so many usages...

Once the technology advances again, more uses will be found (there are hundreds now...)

GIS may serve the following:
-visualising the surface terrain
-finding strategic route for troops movement
-finding distance and area
-emergency vehicle tracking
-mapping road network and landmarks
-finding bridge and other structures
-flood and weather monitoring
