Buy a house thats being auctioned (See web for auction houses in your area,) but research the property first as it may be in need of renovation however their are, with in certain areas, renovation grants available to do the house up. Check with the council the property is in. Up to £10000 + Vat, or £20,000+vat if house has been empty for more than a year. Don't do any work first grants are not retrospective

P.S. nobody moves to Bradford out of choice - Hence house prices are bobbins!

With difficulty. I don't have an answer, but wanted to wish you all the best with getting on the ladder.
Is there anywhere in the UK for under 100k now?

If your a Key worker (nurse, police officer, bus driver in some cases or other key, generally low paid position) you may be able to apply for a "Key Worker" loan or grant or shared ownership scheme through your Local Authority in order to get on the property ladder. Not all Authorities are doing the scheme but many in large cities are. Obviously there are restrictions and hoops that need to be jumped through.

If you were to buy a house in Brum for less than 100K it would eihter be a real rate hole in need of dire rennovation or it would be in a real dog hole area.... i know, i moved from there becuase its such a sh!t hole of a city... Sorry other Brummies, but ya have to admit, its a flea pit now... just look at the City Council for a start!!

Sorry Lass, but dont go there unless you really have to!

You'll have to look at the less 'desireable' areas, which have the potential to be up and coming. Try rightmove.co.uk and do a search for your price bracket. Good luck!
