Goldfish need a minimum of 10 gallons PER baby/juvenile fat fancy goldfish, and a minimum of 20 gallons PER baby/juvenile commet/common/shubunkin goldfish. Adults need a minimum of 50 gallons PER goldfish. Goldfish excrete ALOT of ammonia and need heavy filtration. They also have a lifespan of 40 yrs and they grow to be 12-14 inches long.
The ant isnt going to kill the goldfish if it eats it, your ignorance will if you continue to keep that poor goldfish in a bowl.

Despite what people are saying Goldfish can live a long time, 30 years if kept right and an ant won't harm it. Insects are a part of a Goldfishes diet in the wild and would probably have enjoyed it.
The only problem would be if things keep falling in the bowl and remain uneaten.

No he wont die, and despite what unknown says goldfish can live a very long time. I have gold fish that are 8 years old they used to come in the house for the winter, but now they're to big so they stay outside in my pond all year round. I've seen them eat all kinds of bugs. As far as how long they will live, the oldest on record lived for 43 years.

Well, goldfish only live for a few years, so it'll die eventually, but unless the ant had chemicals on it, your fish will be fine! Think about it, some wild fish eat bugs. so, your goldfish can too!

The ant is no different than if a fish ate a worm. I'm sure if your goldfish was wild he would have eaten worse.

Goldfish don't live for long. So yes it will die, but not because of the ant.

More then likely, yes. Gold fish spit out a lot of stuff. I have no idea why. As for the ant, it won't harm your fish.

if he has eaten the ant i'm sure that because he loved it. Don't worry. Consider it as a free live food for your fish! :)

your gold fish, like every other living thing, will die, but it won't die from trying to eat an ant.

He/she should be fine. (Well unless the ant rolled around in pesticide before going for a swim.) My husband used to feed his oscars flies and they had long happy lives. The oscars, not the flies.
