I think whatever makes a person happy, is likely to make them attractive. So if a girl needs make up to feel happy she'll probably be more attractive with it - so it's not a turn off. But I have to say I've only dated one girl who did and it only lasted 3 days, so it's not a turn on for me either.

From a girld perspective.... I don't think its neccessrily the make up that turns the guy off, its the issues around the make up. If a girl can never be seen without her make up then she's proably quite insecure and lacks confience. Also, she probably takes hours getting ready for even the smallest occasion. these thing are naturally going to put guys off.
Obviously if a girl really cakes on make up and goes for the clown / tangoed look then that is proably a turn off too!
I'm nautraully blonde and quite pale with light eye lashes so I feel like I need to ear make up to stiop me fading into the background. But I always take it off in the evenings.

Make-up if well applied can enhance the beauty of the girl and that is what the primary motive of make up is. If applied 24 hours, it becomes an obvious disadvantage because there must be something to hide under the make-up.
If you do not want to turn-off the guys, make-up sparingly and not 24 hours a day.

Generally, I think it depends on the amount and type. Just say for example I have really bright lippy on, my man would not touch me for fear of getting it over him. But I put a bit of light foundation on and a little eye make up and mascara and he doesn't seems to be bothered by it. Make up should be about accentuating your good points with a little touch up and covering your flaws a little but it should not mask your entire face into something unrecognisable, after all he knows what you really look like and that is what he finds attractive. If he thinks you look really dodgy without makeup then I doubt you are the right looking person for him. Thinking on it from a reverse perspective, It would be a bit off putting if I got covered in slap if I went in for a kiss, so I guess men would be likewise.

It usually isn't, at least not at first. Girls who are made up nice look REAL nice... and when the make up is wrong, well... you know.
The trouble occurs when you see a girl in make up all the time - all day - all week - a few months
A guy (simple creatures that we are) tends to think that's what the girl really looks like. If we ever see her without her "face" she looks ill or unwell (or even hideous).
I guess you have to find the middle road. You want a guy to like how you look, but you don't want to be wearing your make up 24/7 I think

Most guys i know hate girls that have make-up on all the time... like i always wear mascara and some concealer if need be (sometimes a tiny bit of eyeliner but in a way that you'd think my eyes are naturally like that) but not in a way that it's obvious and they feel disgusted. There's nothing wrong with wearing make-up all the time if it makes you feel better in your skin but piling it on just looks nasty♥

Yes.
Heavy make-up done artistically can be OK in small doses. A bit like fancy-dress is OK when it's special.
Generally though, make-up should be invisible.
I don't mind it for everyday use, provided I don't know it's there (unless I look for it).
Being as worried about looks in private as most women are in public, is a big turn-off. Private settings are about getting to know the real you.

I don't think that this is a big turn off for guys, if a girl looks pretty and natural.

I think it depends on the guy. There are some who prefer no make-up (my ex bf hated it when I wore perfume... and he happened to kiss me below the ears; I guess it didn't taste so well...), some that like make-up as appropriate to the occasions, and some, who have posted questions, who prefer a lot of heavy make-up. Whatever...
Anyway, whatever makes you feel OK and confident, will be a turn-on for guys. People tend to like a person who likes him/herself.
