1/5(x-1) + 5/6(x-1) =x
=> (31/30)x -31/30 =x

There is no answer, you have 1/5th of people in a merry ground. and another 5/6ths in a merry ground. Check your english maybe.

It depends on what you mean by a merry ground. Merry-go-round maybe?

in that case, there are 6/30 behind you, and 25/30 infront, but that leaves you out, because you are not behind or infront of yourself. so there are 32 people including you.

But the question, technically speaking, would still not make sense because the people behind you are also infront of you.

I'd think that the question is wrong! A merry-go-round is a circle.
You are one point on the circle - The number of ppl in front and behind you should be equal. Assuming a total of X ppl, X-1 ppl should be ahead and behind you.

(1/5)*X is NOT EQUAL to (5/6)*X

IMHO

Well the Total (t) is equal to 1/5t + 5/6t + 1
So t = 1/5t + 5/6t +1
solve for t
t = 6/30t + 25/30t + 1
30t = 6t + 25t +30
30t = 31t +30
-t = 30
t = -30 so there are negative 30 people on the MG
