I don't think that anything can be solved by "majority vote" when it comes to these situations, as Heinlein once said:

"Autocracy, the theory that one person is always more right than millions - run that by me again? Democracy, the theory that millions of people are always more right than one person - run that by me again?"

A lot of those on both sides are staking political positions and aren't interested in the people of the Lebanon or Israel.

Simple solutions are a long time coming in that troubled part of the world, and I don't think that a quick vote at the UN will make much difference in the long run.

Myself, I'm for peace, I despise the US and UK stand - it's time to stop the killing but I deeply distrust the motives of some of the players at the table as well.

Well to play devils advocate all the way around. Israel didn't start this they are responding to rockets being shot into their country by the Hezbollah which has been persecuting Israel for a long while and have made it clear that they want complete annihilation of the Israeli people. Hezbollah are tricky guys, they covertly invade small towns and villages and make themselves valuable to these regions, because they have a lot of money from Iran and Syria. Then the local people trust them and they use that trust to stay there so when the stuff hits the fan, and Israel starts bombing & innocent people are killed, it looks bad to the world at large for Israel, but really Hezbulla choreographed the whole thing. You've got to remember these are different enemies then we've ever known before, they don't care if they die; the highest honor is to die in Jihad, and they don't care who they take with them. Also, as much as I can't stand Bush and how much respect I've lost for Mr Blair - they would be hard pressed to try to force a cease fire between two countries that we're not SO much involved with while we're still creating havoc in Iraq. Maybe like a good parent teaching a child Bush could say, "Look I"ll stop my fighting, if you'll stop yours!" Then our kids could come home, Israel and Hazbollah would get along and everyone could just be friends - oh wow Hold on I think I just fell asleep; it's late and I'm pretty sure I'm dreaming

do not hassle, i'm right here too. ok....right it quite is my opinion of this terrible question. it quite is biased, indignant, and is unquestionably greater of a fact than a question. In what portion of Blair and Bush is this question leaning in the direction of? i don't think of there is something incorrect with Blair or Bush. it quite is in simple terms yet another ignorant question. era.

The situation is much more complex than you understand, apparantly. Blair especially will go down as a great pm for doing the right thing despite tremendous popular dissent. That is what a leader is.

Blair thinks he is a god a leader to be remembered, god tells him what to do he said so himself!
Bush is lining his own pockets and he owns part of the company supplying the weapons to Israel, all he cares about is himself.
Quick to send troops to war not so quick to help the thousands of Americans drowning in new Orleans was he!

Mr. Bush thinks that he is the president of US

& Mr. Blair thinks he is the Prime minister of UK

Why do you blame them for the killings in Lebanon, which was the result of Hezbollah misdeeds?

They think they are the duly elected President of the U.S.A. and Prime Minister of the U.K. and they are right.
We may not agree with their style, actions and ambitions, but then we should ask ourselves how men like these two could get elected democratically.
Could democracy be flawed?
Perish the thought!
Or ... ?
