hello. I have a serious question and would like a serious answer please. I have read about people that lived a homosexual lifestyle and then decided to become heterosexual. If this is true then wouldn't this go against the theory that homosexuals were born that way? I mean no disrespect so don't show me any please.

@ helpme1: you've chosen a good nickname coz you're in serious need of help, you sick f*ck!

To answer the question: you can't choose your sexuality; it's a NATURAL thing. However you could choose to go against your nature and follow the so-called "social norm", which some (conservative christians among others) still believe to be heterosexuality, just to please your environment.
You won't be happy of course, but at least you're in line with the big grey mass. No backbone, no personal opinion, no life of your own whatsoever, but yeah, that's easier than face the stupidity of the homophobes in this world.

To all the Christians (and other strong believers), i think the essential of His Message was "Love Each Other" and "Respect Each other Like You Want To be Respected Yourself". Maybe good thing to start living by that!

"If this is true..." The short answer is: it probably isn't. While I don't suspend the theory that NO one can do it, I have yet to see any real evidence that people can. People can suppress their desires for periods of time; some longer than others, but many end up going back and realizing it was all a waste of time. Furthermore, when you say "become heterosexual", do you know what that means exactly? Sexual orientation is something completely different from sexual behavior; as such, "gay" describes an orientation. [/semantics] Gay people CAN exhibit similar sexual behavior to straights, if they're motivated enough. Even moreso with bi people (for whom I'd imagine it would be a little bit easier). The problem with the "ex-gay" ministries, and the reparative therepies and all of that is that they have not provided any studies that hold up to peer review in the scientific community. There HAVE been studies that have stood up to such review that show that these programs can cause some serious psychological harm though, up to and including suicide. That latter part, to me, says that even if it DID work for a small percentage of people, it's not really worth it. Further, most of the people involved in the programs will admit that you never change the desire; it will always be there. That desire IS sexual orientation; you're not making people straight, you're helping them to act straight. Personally, that doesn't bother me too much, except for the fact that they aren't up front about what they're trying to do.

While I have a severe issue with use of the word "lifestyle", I'll put that aside to say that you kind of have it backwards. Someone could BE gay, but live a heterosexual "lifestyle".

I don't believe that would change anything , You can brain wash someone into doing anything if you work on it long enough . The gay men and women who transition into the straight life after being gay usually go through a organization such as Exodus international or they go trough a physiological retraining in order to overcome the homosexual desires and thoughts that they have . There is no research that proves this method works in the long term . Homosexuals are born the way they are and what I have experienced through individuals that I have know that have gone through the experience of leaving the gay life , It doesn't last . You can't deny who you are , or what you are by nature . If I could have chose my sexual identity I would not have chosen to be homosexual and I don't believe anyone would .

From a gay Christian. Please note that the terms "homosexual" and "Christian" are not mutually exclusive.

It can be a decision not to have a homosexual relationship. It can be a decision to attempt to form a long term heterosexual bond, and for some it is even possible to perform the heterosexual sex act. But this doesn't make one heterosexual. The conversion therapies that people have gone through are nothing more than cruel brainwashing techniques, which if used agains prisoners of war, would violate the Geneva Conventions.
It doesn't make a homosexual into a heterosexual, it is aversion training, scaring them from acting on their homosexuality.

MOST who undergo this therapy eventually revert, whether openly or secretly. Why would you want someone to live a lie?

Here's a question from a Homosexual Christian to a Homophobic Christian: In which of the teachings of Christ do you read anything that condemn's homosexual persons, or justifies your persecution of us?

Don't be surprised if you get a homosexuaul who doesn't belive this. They are good at ingoring what they want to. It's easy to beilive what you hear on the news or read in the paper - but easy to ignore what you don't want to hear.
I knew of a homosexual who was gay when I worked at McDoanlds. She was a manger and made no bones aobut it. She also got inovlved with one of the crew people. The crew person had a baby with some guy and then her and the manager raised it together. This manager even referred to the baby as "her son"
She was so enitrelry gross that she would ask people do you want to know how we "do it".
The answer was alway NO!

Also I met this lady last year, we became friends, I knew she was Bhuddist but that's all I knew. Well in this State, there was a vote coming up on the ballot about changing the constitution to say we cannot disciminate based on sexaul orientation. Many people did not like it -feeling it would eventually lead to gay marriage which is what they are pushing for now. At at any rate, she wrote me all upset that there were these signs saying - "Vote NO ON question 1. When I met her she said she belived the words and teachings of the Bible. I offered to do a study with her and show her where it was wrong. She never spoke to me again after that.

But other than that, you can't tell people the truth until they are ready to hear it. Pray for them. Pray for the Holy Spirit to tir up their hearts.

I seriously believe that I was born gay. Although I was raised to be straight. That never worked out. In the 90s I have Playboy magazines, and centerfolds on my wall. However in 95 everything started to come to me clearer. I started to understand why I was looking at all the boys. I understood why I went completely crazy over my ex-brother-in-law's penis.

I could always find the beauty in a female. However females never appealed to me in a sexual manner. Yes I kissed girls in my past, I masturbated a female, and I preformed oral sex back in the 90's.

My thing (no punt intended) was for the love, and affection from a man. I remember after my first relationship started. I told myself this is what I really want. After my second relationship. I found out a lot of things. I really got the meaning of making love to another man. I thought it was the greatest thing in the world. Our break up caused my a lot of pain, and depression. I wished I could have made it work. I thought since I was born gay. This was a gift from Jesus. Because he was perfect. Like they say if it is too good to be true usually it is. And that is why we did not make it. But I feel like I could have done something to change it.

Well, then this year in the last few months. After being single for about four years. My life turned around in front of my face. I never would have thought it would have came to this. I never thought it was possible for this to happen. Like people say don't say never. Because usually it will happen, especially when you least expect it too.

This situation was this. I ended up loving in love with a female. I could not believe it. I did not think it was possible. I cannot explain why it even happened. I catch myself all the time. Questioning the situation. Like is this really happening. Did I just make love to a girl. Am I sleeping in the same bed with a female.

Like I said this just happened a few months ago. My homosexuality was erased. I have NO desires for a male in a sexual manner. I can still find the beauty in another male. But that is where the line is drawn.

Now, it is like my life is starting all over again at twenty seven years old.

i kind of think you answered your own question...you said they lived as gays then DECIDED to become straight. i think mankind has proven that it can be whatever it puts it mind to as long as it has justified to it's self that it is within it's own values and beliefs. there is a kindof recent story of a peacock that was female and in the environment she was in was all females if i remember right, but anyhow it changed into a male, because there was no males in its environment.this was never known until now that it was possible for peacocks to do that. you could say that that proves that in adverse conditions evolution changes to help it's self i.e pollution, lack of healthy food, overpopulation in the world. so you might think that we are a natural population control, coming out to let people die off so that we can better live on the planet we have. here is also another amazing story i think, in Arizona there is a population of lizards, they are all female, and when a female is fertail the only way she can make a baby is to have another female pretend to be a male and mount her and wiggle as if a male would. so if any thing this shows that it is clearly possible that you can be born that way, if animals don't procreate for enjoyment then lust is void there by having the total posibility of homosexuals in there rightful place among the earth's creatures.

You might read about people who claim to have changed their sexual orientation, but there is no actual proof that they did. The ex-gay movement is rife with people who have been caught relapsing back into gayness (see links below). And all of the largest professional medical and psychological groups in America have said that treatments promising to change people from gay to straight don't work and are actually psychologically harmful to people who go through them. And ex-gay groups have been notoriously reluctant to let any unbiased researchers do long term studies on this supposed change.

I mean, people can say whatever they want. I can start saying I am duck if I want. I can tell everyone in the world that I am now a duck. But that doesn't make me a duck. That just makes me the person in deep denial about being a duck.

If these conversions from gay to straight actually worked (which they dont seem to), it might add an interesting dimension to the born gay arguement. But there is no proof that they actually work, and plenty of proof they do not. The internet is rife with ex-ex-gays who talk about how their conversion didn't work, and it is very hard to find an ex-gay talking about how it did work who is not being paid by an ex-gay organization. So that is why most gay people don't think much of ex-gays and don't think that they present any real threat to the born gay theory.

Someone above was very rude and condescending and said that gay people are good at ignoring what we want to. I think that is true. I'm good at ignoring things that have seem to have no basis in fact. I'm good at ignoring things that just feel wrong to me based on my thoughts, feelings, spiritual beliefs, and life experiances. You have to decide for yourself if you think that an entire subset of the human condition is just stubborn and deluded or if we actually know what we are talking about. I'm sorry this person worked with a psycho at McDonalds once, but I worked with some pretty crazy straight folks when I was doing retail too and that doesn't make me think bad of all straight people or judge all straight people based on the example of a couple of loonies. Some gay people are nuts, some straight people are nuts. I just last week had one of my straight coworkers ask me all sorts of invasive personal questions last week about how I "do it" so obviously it runs both ways.

you can choose to turn your back on the person God made and live a straight lie if you choose, but you will always be gay.Jesus taught love and acceptance, his only command was that we love each other, and his death washed away all that was there before, including all the old testament rules.which by the way are all literal or not, you cant choose to keep the homosexual commands and not the ones that allow slavery mutliple wives killing of disrespectful children etc etc. also i was born that way and every single species on the planet have natural occurnces of homosexuality, God says judge not lest thou shall be judged, maybe thats the ultimate test for us to love one another unconditionally without judgement.

God makes people gay or not gay. People take different amounts of time to understand and deal with being different in this way. I know mean who have "come out" at age 50 or later because of the intense societal bigotry, discrimination and pressure against LGBT people.

God made me this way, and God doesn't make junk!

It sounds like you are a true Christian, who is trying to understand something instead of issuing a blanklet declaration against it.
Can you talk to some of your bigoted, homophobic, discriminatory and therefore violence-promoting 'bretheren' about how to truly follow your religion's teachings? WWJD?
