They didn't really put in the time from a touring point of view. Also it is down to the radio stations half of the time, how can your charts be based mainly on airplay and not on sales? it makes them a complete waste of time as it's basically "pay us money and we'll play your record".
Most British bands that do make it in America tend to either sound American (Bush, Spacehog) or are alternative (Radiohead). I mean when Radiohead were doing perhaps their best album (the Bends) it didn't do much, they release Kid A and it goes to number 1? surely no-one thinks Kid A is a better album?
You've basically got to go over to America with a mass of hype and either keep your mouth shut or suck the cocks of the arrogant b*stards in the music business.
If you are a loud mouth from England you don't stand a chance.
For a start i think (judging by American Films with english people in) they all think we all speak like Hugh Grant??!! Not abusive Mancs.
Who cares if they didn't make it in a land which produces Dull cr*p like "the eagles" and "Bon Jovi"??

Because they are British and Americans don't get the vibe they give off. Also they know nothing of the Blur vs Oasis wars which made both bands more popular over here!

Mainly because Oasis don't kiss butt. To be popular in America you have to suck up to Radio stations / dj's , record executives etc this way you will get your music played on air. If you don't play their game, then thats the kiss of death for any band, and I think thats what happened to the likes of Oasis, Robbie etc.

Maybe it's because they said they were better then The Beatles and they couldn't touch The Beatles talent with a mile long stick. Yes, rock and roll is an arrogant professions, but when you say that you are better then probably the best rock and roll band EVER then you had better prove it. And when it's not proven, the audience is quite fickle and disappointed.

Besides that, they really suck, IMHO.

I have yet to hear much decent music lately besides Maroon 5, which was recorded I think 4 years before it became popular, and Natasha Bedingfield whom I absolutely LOVE and ADMIRE for her talent as a song writer and singer! I was introduced to her one early Sunday morning when she did a live acoustic performance on Breakfast with the Arts.

Perhaps the Americans saw them for what they are; totally unoriginal, blatant copiests of The Beatles and The Who. Sorry, and no offence to any Oasis fans, I prefer an Oasis fan to any drivelling 'pop', but they have never appealed to me, much preferring music that has some merit and thought.

Oasis are certainly one of "those" British bands. different of "those" british bands are: Love, The Libertines, and that they are going to be responsive to Us via the direction of the ineffective, Manic highway Preachers and Stone Roses. a majority of those bands are mega in Britian yet no longer plenty interior the States...

To all those who say it is because they are talentless/ not good enough/ it's because the Americans have taste... consider the British bands who have made it big in America but not troubled the radar in the UK.... some examples.... The Fixx. Foreigner. Bush. Wang Chung. Bland hogwash. Need I say more?
