I'm from the Uk but I've studied America lots both at college and in leisure pursuits. Both are great countries. The UK has it's health service which helps the most vulnerable where-as the US has much less tax and so is more of the 'land of oppertunity'. They're both great peoples, and I belong to a few American groups.

Each has its' own qualities and I wouldn't say one was better than the other. For example, if a convicted paedophile was caught in the US, chances are that the scum bag would be executed. Whereas here in the UK we'd let them go after 5 years. The flip side to that is executing an innocent person which I'm sure has happened before in the US and will no doubt happen again sometime.
The answers all depends on the angle your question is aimed at as it's to much of a generalisation else.
For what it's worth...I prefer the UK because we play football with our feet.

so do you change you name but not your face? if you didn't just ask about hip hop in the US then please disregard this message. If you're "saint.... something or other " please read on and you could also advise me how to comment more than once to a question because after I responded and read other's answers I wanted to say more. .. So regarding why Hip Hop is tolerated... well it's all about the money as I said before but it goes way beyond hip hop. Blink182 from Poway the most white bread band I've ever seen is totally foul. I will never pay or go to a free show of their "punk rock" band because even though I whatched them 10 years ago before they were even famous I think that they are dirty old men. Okay they are not that old but their audience is pre-teen and early teenage girls and the band talks about blow jobs and what not, Yes the what not is bad. The little girls that go to their shows dress like little whores. It's not just hip hop it's whatever sells and the bands dont give a F**ck.

Your answer will be in accurate. Due to time zones and Internet usage times. You are more likely to get more people from the UK to respond.
But, with that being said. They are both good, but since America is so vast with so much variety in culture and landscape I would have to say America. But I am American so I might be a little biased.

The UK.
We realise that we are no longer the most influential country in the world (the Empire is long gone) but are cool with it
The Yanks still think they are.

What the difference? We've imported American culture into the UK for so long, we are now as ignorant, arrogant, selfish, materialist and superficial as the US.
