I used snuff (Copenhagen and Skoal) to quit smoking fifteen years ago, and now I don't know if I will ever be able to quit dipping. Every dip is like four to five cigarettes at once. I love to drink, but since getting sick and being on meds I've had to quit that and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I have heard that gram for gram, nicotine is as or more addictive than heroin or cocaine, and I believe it. When I was younger, I used to party it up and have tried just about everything at one time or another. I have dropped them all, but I still dip a can of snuff every other day.

I quit smoking 10 months ago. It was difficult but it was something that I really wanted to do, so I stuck with it. I had the first month with patches, but I felt I was cheating because I was still giving my body nicotine, so I got rid of them and went cold turkey. My poor husband and kids had to put up with my terrible mood swings for a while, but it was worth it. I saved all they money I would have spent on fags and bought this great computer. We are also having a holiday in a couple of weeks time with money I have saved. I am a little bit fatter than I was a few months ago, but that is a small price to pay for the fact that I have extended my life by quite a few years.
I recommend it to any smokers. Give it a go, you never know what you are capable of till you try!

Smoking is really hard to give up, but heroin would be the hardest for people to give up. Or the worst thing ever to give up and the hardest is your freedom. You can quit smoking without to much hassle, just don't give up on quitting the habit. I just quit two weeks ago, from smoking 8 years. You can do it. Good luck.

I think for you, the hardest things to give up is yourself... You are so addicted to these substances because you are obsessed with those pleasure that you 'think' yourself obtained during the abuse of these substances. But it's glad to hear that you are trying to give up on these addictions... Maybe you should consult expert on how to quit all these desires and I know you can do it if you really put your mind into quitting them... I wish you all the best and hope to hear from you when you succeeded so that others can follow your footsteps.

As someone that struggled with addictions in my past...smoking is the hardest one....I have given everything else, but have not successfully given up the smokes!!! Smoking is linked to so many different parts of the day...waking, eating, the phone, driving, being online.....etc.
damn things!!!

It all depends on the person who has to make the choice to give something up.
I stem from a family of drinkers and smokers so I opted not to smoke. I have a cousin who smoked crack after losing contact with some of her children and allowing drug dealers to invade her apartment, she decided to quit smoking Crack.
She still smokes cigarettes.
For me the hardest thing to give up was a good sex partner.
He cheated several times and I couldn't allow my emotions to supercede my intellect.
So I asked myself 2 questions:
If I contract Aids and have to leave Earth earlier than God intended whose going to raise my son and will he forgive me for choosing a penis over my son?

i think that love is the most addictive and often distructive force and if its real, its the hardest thing to give up and forget...i know how you feel though, even though i've stopped drinking, i can't stop smoking...
