My 2000 Fiat Punto seems to squeak a lot more than it used to, especially when I go over say manholes or uneven road surfaces. What could cause this? I recently had some brake pads replaced and I dont think the mechanic has put the wheels on properly could this be why? Thanks

It could be the wheels need tighting, but have your wishbones checked out and could well be your bearings aswell.

if the wheel nuts are loose they knock rather than squeak. In this dry weather some of the bushes in the suspension may be a little dry, the rain today may help!

Try and work out where the rattle comes from, my car squeaks from the sun roof and there really isn't much you can do about it, on your car, as long as its not a symptom of something wrong, I would turn the radio up - the new Grande Punto doesn't squeak at all!

The wheel is most certainly not the problem, it is more likely to be ware and tear. however if it is when you brake then it is just a case of letting the pads wear in. it may be the suspension bushes need replacing.

This sounds more to me to be a suspension just from what your saying I would have the suspension checked if the car doesn't ride as smooth as it did when it was new or you have over 65K on it you may want to look into struts and shocks.

Good Luck!

Take it for a service, the joints may need oiling.
