I do not think you have to have an MSW to be a case worker or an investigator for Dept Social Services in most states! Now to get paid for you work as a Social Worker you do need to have a Master Degree and a licensed by the state. You will find allot of govt workers do not have the degree in the area they are working in. So of the people are grandfathered into there jobs. If I have a social worker I would want to know if they have raised kids. History can count. But in the spirit of what you are saying -don't get the law called on you about you kids- I could be a long battle- le
