I'm afraid that my college roommate (I just finished High School) next year won't like me. What are your experiences with roommates? I hope that we become best friends - we might as well if we're living together and everything.

Some are great, some are horrible, some are just people with whom you happen to share a room. Most universitiy housing offices will let you know who your roommate is going to be before school starts so you can try contacting them, try to find out what kind of person they are. And know that if the worst happens, there are always ways to go about switching rooms if conditions are really bad. I was never best friends with mine, but we always got along just fine.

I prefer to keep it friendly, but newtral in terms of friendship with my roommates. We don't hate each other, but we're not friends either. We are considerate of each other, and respect each other's habits and schedule.
