I think it`s because lots of people are insecure with themselves and it makes them feel better in hurting and upsetting others.I had to leave a job I enjoyed because of a boss who bullied me,she had nothing and no-one in her life so she took it out on people that were happy.She is still the same and always will be until she learns to like herself.

This is the era of live-and-let-die. Since everybody is using this motto, we all are going to "die" (bad relations with every body on this planet).
The hegemony of USA over the rest of the world is the main factor. This country is the example of "might is right" and "you can get away with murder". President George Bush is the greatest liar on earth and still gets re-elected.
Look at what Israel is doing now (with full backing of the USA - in fact, no USA support = no Israel).
While the terrorists are really bad, what about the occupation of Zionist Israel in the West Asia after WW II and the way it was done displacing thousands of the locals??? I call that acts of terror too. So after WW II the first batch of terrorists are the Israelis and the supporting USA. The chain reaction has gone on and on....
This will go on till we hit the rock bottom and PEOPLE take charge of their lives, eliminate all current leaders and their politics and switch to live and let live motto.

I think it's because we live in a selfish society. Everyone is so wrapped up in their own little worlds that they don't have any time for others. Respect and compassion cost nothing yet people are too busy with their own problems to give just a little of these to anyone else. Although we all have busy lives we should still be able to find time for other people.

Because (some) people in society are very selfish, therefore don't care much about other people. There are still plenty of people out there who treat others with respect (me!) :D

Because it is Kaliyuga. Iron age. People are locked up in themselves, they can not see further. The day we start seeing as we all human, the same. Things will change.

i feel that its because of their selfish up bringing. if kindness and manners were involved in their up bringing they would have some empathy towards others. i feel if you don't love yourself you cant love anyone, so if the person treats someone badly they dont care about themselves.

because they are insecure or guilty or they were treated that way so they think that it is normall.
