If you haven't been wearing makeup, it's usually easiest to start with something simple. Get a foundation that matches your skin. That's the biggest mistake girls make when they start wearing makeup...you don't want to walk around with orange lines on your neck. So find a foundation that matches your skin by using the skin on the underside of your forearm to test it. Using a sponge to apply it is less messy, but for a beginner, using your fingers allows for better coverage and helps you even out your base. When you get more used to putting it on and how it should look, then start using a sponge.
Finish with powder in a compact. It's not messy and you can carry it with you for touch-ups. Just make sure it matches your face as well.
I wouldn't go with anything drastic at first. Try just wearing mascara and lip gloss for a while. There are some great colored lip glosses that make your lips look gorgeous. This is a great option for you b/c you can hardly mess it up. It's not like applying lipstick.
Applying mascara is definetly tricky. The easiest thing I can do for my top lashes is to kind of blink into the mascara wand until I've done all my lashes. Use an eyelash brush b/c it'll help remove any clumps you have.
Play around with your makeup and practice. It can be a lot of fun seeing all the looks you come up with. Just don't overdo it. Remember that makeup is to enhance your natural beauty, not to change it entirely.

To me, the key is not to wear too much. You want it to enhance your looks, not call attention to itself!!
If you want foundation, look for one which closely matches your skintone. Look for one in a formulation that makes sense for the type of skin you have. If your skin is oily, you wouldn't want a heavy makeup.
Blush: can be cream, gel, powder, stick. Use it lightly on the parts of your face that would ordinarily look "kissed" by the sun (cheeks, bridge of nose). Color should be one to look good w/your skin tone. Not too dark or sparkly.
Eyeshadows: lots of types (powder, cream, stick). Should be in a color that flatters your skin and eyecolor. Don't do brown shadow w/brown eyes. No bright blues. Use powder first on eyelids or a primer to keep it on. Some brands are long-lasting enough so you could do w/out primer.
Mascara: many types to choose from. Black can be harsh. Brown, brownish/black. There are even colors.
Lips: gloss is good. Colors are many. Lipsticks can be cakey, chalky and drying.
Good luck. Makeup is fun. Just experiment. Get a magazine to help. Or there are some good books out there, too. Bobbi Brown has good ones, even one especially for teens (not sure how old you are).

ist wash your face with cold water. dry face. apply a base like foundation. then apply compact or powder . the wear a lipcolor according to the matching of ur dress and your skin color. dont wear it too bright or dark.
apply a bit of eyeshadow. or a bit of shine like silver or gold depending on thedress. apply a bit of blush. thats it.
this is the basic makeup routine. u learn it and improve on it as time goes and with practice.
removing makeup is as essential as putting it on. remove with cotton and makeup cleanser - every inch of ur makeup. gud luck.have fun. remember me.
