I threw Discus in High School and Broke my School Record @ 152' - 2 1/2" as a Senior in 1989. So Id Say @ 15 you have a hell of a Start. Keep Training Hard, and the Key is Building your Legs by doing a lot of Squats. Its all in the Expolding at the end.

Try training Videos, thats what I did, Im sure there are many better ones avaliable now.

By the way after HS I went to the Local Junior College and picked up the Hammer. Once Again found my way to the record books.

Yes that is a solid distance for your high school level. If you set a goal of increasing your distance by 10ft. each year you will likely compete in the state finals if you maintain your training.

In the 2006 Indiana State HS championships 150' would have placed you in 15th on the list.
165' would land you a top 10 and 170' feet will put you in position to WIN many meets. The winning toss for this meet was by HS junior Greenwald, Josh 11 Decatur Cent 180-02

The Indiana State HS Record discus throw is
State: * 217-01 1993 John Schulte, Hanover Central

I wish you the best in your field event training. You may consider some balance training such as gymnastics or wrestling to letter in along the way. Try not to hurt your knees and ankles playing football and you may have a chance to put your name on the track record boards at your High School soon.

Good Luck!

Considering your age and the fact that you will be throwing the discus much farther as you grow, 150 ft. is pretty good.

The discus throw world record for men is:
Jürgen Schult 74.08 m (243' 0.5") 6 June 1986

And for women:
Gabriele Reinsch 76.80 m (251' 11.75") 9 July 1988

Keep at it and perhaps we will see you in the Olympics.
The discus is one of the few sports events in which the world record has never been set during the Olympics so there's something for you to go for.

For a 15 year old, it's quite good. I suppose that you're a sophomore. I'm not sure what state you're from, but here are the class records for California High school for comparions

Sr all-time best: 213-11 Scott Moser (Huntington Beach) 1997
Jr all-time best: 210-1 Jeff Buckey (Bakersfield) 1991
Soph all-time best: 182-5 Jeff Buckey (Bakersfield) 1990
Frosh all-time state best: 173-6 Antonio Dobbins (Burroughs, Ridgecrest) 1979

Keep at it. If you're throwing 160, 170 or greater as a senior, there's a good chance there'll be athletic scholars with your name on 'em
