A patriot is one who lives by the ideals laid out by the constitution of their country. If those ideals include flag wrapping or wearing uniforms all the power too you.
A real patriot is someone who always votes.
A real patriot is someone who gives back to their community and their nation.
A real patriot in a democracy is someone who speaks up against percieved injustices.
A patriot is someone who respects and upholds the rights of their neighbours.

Wrapping yourself in a flag does not constitute patriotism, neither does serving in the forces, unless you believe in the reasons why you joined.
There is patriotism and extreme patriotism. The extremists are dangerous minds and you don't want many of those.
I believe in my country but never right or wrong.

You don't have to serve to be patriotic. I would like to, but I have a family to take care of and other plans in life. I support my country and our troops. I have two cousins in the marines and have the same Americana tattoo as they do. Semper Fi.
