Maybe I'm dumb, but where are you from? I can't see it on your profile.
It's always cheaper to book flights online rather than a travel agent (no matter what they say) and try and be flexible about your dates. Just look up various airlines. Although, at that time of year in the height of summer, it's not looking good for you.
One thing to remember, though, if you fly via Johannesburg is that Joburg airport makes you check out of a flight and check back in so make sure you've got time to wait for your bags at the carousel and still make it to your next flight.

No direct flights from UK to Durban now, you'll need to change in Joburg. Your dates are peak season but Trailfinders are very good at finding the cheapest deal UK-SA. For your internal flight Joburg to Durban, try kalula.com, they're a no-frills airline but VERY cheap and reliable. Happy Holiday!

I doubt you will find any at all let alone cheap ones. You can try Flight Centre or eBookers. There are no direct flights to Durban you will need to fly to Jo'burg then onto Durbs from there.

you can go to www.flysaa.com and there are flights there for roughly R770 (including all taxes etc) leaving from Joburg at a number of times during the day. Alternatively, you can look on www.kulula.com ; www.1time.co.za or www.flynationwide.co.za to shop around a bit
