In earlier ages itself draupadi can marry all the five brother and it was accepted and though they were not treated as gods they are the central characters in the world greatest epic Mahabharath. But we speak ill abt ladies when they marry even second time or have an illegal affair. But u see our gods most of them had more than one wife . We speak ill of item girls but we had item girls in Indras Durbar they are regarded with respect then why do we look down at our present day item girls or bar dancers?

See i do agreet world is changing rapidly but wht i mean to say is i feel women had more liberty and dignity in those days though such activities hve increased they hve been looked down.

Draupadi had five Husbands.
Husbands mark that. It was not an illegal affair. The laws applied were different then. Some tribes still practice polandary.
Menaka is called an Apsara but I do not rember her getting any more respect than Miss universes or miss worlds today.
Some people like them some say they are not that good model for their own daughters.
Item girls are not married but are more of Nagar Vadhu category.
They get same respect today as Nagar Vadhus got 2500 years ago though.
As for gods and related mythologies remember that its mostly symbolism.
Have you ever noticed the meaning of those words ?
By the way most of the sex taboos today are from Islamic and then Christian rule today.Not exactlly Indian heritage. But now it has been practiced for so long that it is accepted.
For example covering the head especially for women. Do you see any head covered in ancient art? But after Islam it became a trend.

That is why maximum crowd you may find these places only , how can you justify , people talk , who has not experienced and could not got one .
