All the other Answers are good, but here's another Rinse with some Hydrogen Peroxide for about 3 Minutes. Tilt your Head to where the Tooth is covered with it. If You've got a really bad Infection, it will "Foam Out", so keep doing it, Pouring in Fresh Hydrogen Peroxide, and letting it Soak, until the "Foaming" stops.Next, take some Dental Floss, and Pull it Down hard enough to Rip into the Gum where it really Hurts. Draw a really tight Vacuum, Pucker Up, like You would Drinking out of a Small Straw. Do the Hydrogen Peroxide again. You'll really make a Mess, and Draw out a lot of Blood doing this, but it will relieve the Pressure, and Draw Out the Infection. Then, use either Ambesol, or Ora-Gel. This will work !

This is guaranteed to work!!! Go to the nearest health food store, and ask for "Oil of Cloves" or "Clove Oil" Some drug stores have it--it comes in a tiny little bottle--like iodine, and only costs a couple of dollars or less. This stuff is strong, so only put a tiny amount on a small piece of cotton in the tooth cavity that hurts. It will sting a second, but then you will ease up. No Joke!!! Keep reapplying till you can get to the Dr. A Dentist told me that this is what is in all those numbing gels that cost a small fortune, except this stuff is full strength!!! Good Luck!!

It is probably abscessed and you should be taking penicillin or amoxicillin. Once the abscess (infection) has started to clear up from the antibiotics (about 2 days), the pain will be gone, but it will come back after you finish your 10 days of meds.

You will probably need to have it pulled, but a dentist will not touch it until you have been on antibiotics for a week. Too much risk of spreading the infection throughout the body.

You can take up to 1,000mg of Ibuprofen at a time (every 6 hours). However, if you take it too often, or for too long at that amount, your stomach could start bleeding.

Actually Ambesol does not work at all. If you are having a really bad toothache, which I have had, you probably have some sort of infection, or impacted, or absess. You need to go to a dentist, and have him releave some pressuire under the tooth. Codien or vicadin might help , but it did not for me. I would recommend going to the dentist. Really.

whiskey. my grand parents used it, my mom used it. it also works good for children who are teething. It will numb the pain and you will not get drunk. you put it on the tooth or put it in your mouth and swish around. it really does work. I had to use it many times when I had a tooth ache and could not get into the dentist for over a week.

Short of pulling it, try Anbesol.

Added: 6 days and you can't find the time to get to a dentist?

Do make an appointment with your dentist, if you haven't already. In the mean time use clove oil, usually available from pharmacists. and health shops.
