If you poll the answers you get from a question that is as open as this one you will note one thing. If you get 100 answers you will have at least 75 different vehicles. The best of anything is dependent on what you will use it for. I like sports cars but if I wanted to haul anything large I would wish I had my old Land Rover back. So decide what you need and what you want (normally two completely different critters) and then see what fits the needs column and has a bit of the want side. Myself, I think the best is one that is durable, affordable in purchase and running costs, comfortable to drive and with decent handling. Top speed isn't all that great as chances to go anywhere near 100+ mph aren't real common and most people would find it a quick shot to not living because that skill is learned and if it isn't the grading curve is real steep.
