Hi, I have 15 tattoos. They all have meaning to me. It does hurt a little but it is more of an adreniline rush than anything. Your body naturally numbs after a bit anyway. The closer to the bone the more it will hurt. Bleeding depends on the person as well, I usually have only a few spots. Do not drink or take drugs before going in, not a good thing to do and it can affect the bleeding!
As far as swelling, that varies. I have never had one stay swollen for a week. It looks raised for a day or two and then usually peels off within a week to a week and a half. That also depends on how large an area is done. Just make sure you follow your tattoo artists instructions and you will do fine.
The design you come up with is personal to you. As long as you like it, that is what matters. What you can do is go in and have each part done seperately if you think it will hurt too much getting it done all at once. All those options are yours.
So, go on in, relax, get it done and then enjoy it! I would love to see a picture of it when you have it done. Feel free to send me a pic if you want. Good luck!!

Your tat sounds cool. I don't have any myself but my husband has three. Yes they hurt. Some ppl can take the pain better than others. Think about how you handle normal pain. A tattoo is a small needle puncturing your skin over and over very quickly. Of course its going to hurt some. It also depends on where you put it. Some areas hurt more than others. Try to find out how many nerve endings are in the place you want to put it.

Yes they do hurt. But depending where they are as to how much they hurt. For instance the one I have on my arm didn't hurt much at all. The one on my back hurt a little more. But all in all it didn't hurt real bad. I got mine when I was 18. Now that I'm 43 they don't look so good. That in my opinion should be more of a concern then the pain. Since the pain is minor but the lasting effect is forever. So choose wisely since its a lifetime decision.

First, your design sounds beautiful. My fiance' is a gemini and she has her symbol on her. Love that. Secondly, tattooes burn more than they hurt. I think of hurt as bangin' your knee on something. Tattooes feel like someone is scraping you with a hot knife. I have eight tats. They burn like a mutha but are addictive. Think very hard about what you what because they are FOREVER. Good luck : )

yes.
that's why tattooo artists use novocaine (pain relieving cream to deaden the area being tattooed).
It's like a sewing machine thrusting a needle at hyperspeed.
Once finished, a tattooed area will swell for a week.
as for your design.....hey cool...peace.

I haven't gotten one removed, but I assume it is going to hurt. The ink is under your skin, there is going to be no easy way to get it out. I think I heard somewhere that getting one removed hurts eve more then getting the actual tattoo.

Only one way to find out!!!..
If your having second thoughts about getting a tattoo over something as trivial as pain, you probably aren't ready to get one yet..

the amount of pain depends on where on your body you get the tattoo and how high a threshold of pain you have but in my experience they don't hurt just kinda unpleasant

Uh. It's gonna look real mixed up; like the product of the mating session between a raccoon and a horse.
And yup, it hurts. I did a scorpion one on my lower back and it HURT like HELL.

I depends on your pain tolerance and where on your body you put them. I have 2: one on the inside of my ankle and one on my shoulder blade. The latter of the 2 hurt more. :) If you are worried, then get a small one to see if you think you can tolerate a larger one.
