Not only buy or sell properties, during this month. Chinese dun get married, dun swim , dun go out late, dun whistle, dun talk about ghost, dun renovate their house and dun alot of things. Its said to be bad luck, as all the ghost is out from hell higher chances of meeting them at night, during swimming. Renovation work might disturb the ghost and they will haunt you. etc etc.

During this "Hungry Ghost Month", not only avoid properties transaction also not getting married this month. Why? as a Chinese our mind set is like that because you loss nothing if you believe. Otherwise, should things turn out bad then regret too late. We have to practise the "kiasu" and "kiase", by using the "win,win situation". Yes! is bad omen.

Well, it depends on whether U believe in Hungry Ghost festival. Chinese still can buy and sell properties but it is the mindset of majority tt it is a bad month to do business tt's all.

Not that sellings are not allowed, is that people try to avoid doing such transactions during the Ghostly Month.
In folks believe, buying of properties in this month consider as buying "Ghostly House", while selling off properties, they sellers might worried that they met with "Ghostly Customers" from the other world.
In-order to avoid such incidents happening, people tend to avoid all necessary transactions.
