There are a few movies I like to call "Romance movies made for guys". These are flicks where there's a lot of romantic overtones, but the romance DOESN'T involve the guy bending over backward to "win" the girl who is SOooo much better than him. As a guy, I find the majority of romance movies either insulting (raising the worth of a woman doesn't mean lowering the worth of a man.Grand gestures should happen from BOTH sides to be real love) or tripe (most romantic comedies are neither romantic nor comedic).

Women can appreciate these movies too. They step outside the box. Try one!

"High Fidelity" (John Cusack as a man trying to find out why he's forever alone)

"About a Boy" (Hugh Grant as a man who appears to be selfish, but is actually just afraid. Same author wrote both books by the way)

"Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (Jim Carey. This ones a bit deep, but the message is that love is three dimensional. The good goes with the bad to make true happiness)

"Don Juan DeMarco" (Johnny Depp and MARLON BRANDO. A psychologist treats a man who thinks he's Don Juan and learns about romance in the bargain.

"Before Sunrise" (Ethan Hawke. This is a more serious film for smarter guys, but SO worth it.)

"Can't Hardly Wait" (Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ethan Embry. Teen comedy with a VERY sweet and romantic heart. Women may not be able to hang with this film because the comedy is broad. "Broad Comedy" is man-speak for "actually funny".)

"The Secretary" (Maggie Gyllenhall and James Spader. WARNING! This is an EROTIC romantic comedy that deals with bondage. It also was nominated for best adapted screenplay and Maggie got Nominated for best actress. It's that good. It has a message about accepting yourself and those that love you. NOT FOR THE NARROW-MINDED!!!!)

I've met very few people who have seen ALL of these films and I've tried to stay away from obvious ones. There should be something for everyone on this list.

Good luck!
