are we discussing a world cup match? Cause that's what it sounds like....
But taking your question seriously, I don't think Lebanon is a participant in this war. They have no troops involved either way, they are not even attempting to shoot down the Israeli bombers that killed 37 children in one hit the other day.
Meanwhile, the trouble that Israel is having right now with Hezbollah should be enough to explain why the Lebanese were never strong enough to do anything about Hezbollah themselves.
Hezbollah is a large, well organised covert Shia army and political force. Lebanon is where they have set up camp, but it is not their focus or their source of strength. Their goals are much bigger than Lebanon, or indeed than Israel.
Hezbollah and Israel are taking each other on and the people of Lebanon are merely taking a pounding for someone else's war. This is grotesque.
Anyone with any humanity wants peace to win this war. Will that ever be possible?

I don't think it's a question about winning. They are two societies living in close vicinity who just cannot agree. I think Israel have every right to fight back against Hezbollah, but the way they are doing it is totally unjustified. If they want a war, then stick them in a field together and let them get on with it. Israel's bombing campaign is totally out of proportion. It is not stopping Hezbollah, if anything it is just creating more support for them.
If I have to choose a 'winner,' then, yeah, I'd probably agree that Hezbollah should be stopped, but Israel's military strength is greater and at the moment all they are doing is killing innocent people. Israel need to stop the aerial bombing and concentrate on a ground offensive if they want to keep any respect from other countries.

Is it some kind of boxing match or something? NO! People are being killed NOW! Personally, I think Israel is totally out of order (where do you get your 'balanced arguments from? - certainly not from the British media) but to be honest I just want to see the fighting stop. The Israelis have destroyed the infrastructure of Lebanon in the past fortnight and they are guilty of war crimes.

I think they should make peace. Both nations have dangerous nationalist movements. We have Jewish supremacist (some sort of Jewish KKK league) and we have ignorant Muslim terrorist teenagers (animals with AK4, to extremist to think). The result: death of innocent people.
On the other hand... Israel already won because nobody from western countries seem to be bothered. It's true that some EU diplomats criticized the Jews... but only simple words.
The biggest losers ? Moderate Jews... and moderate Islamics.

if you follow the news very well, you will discover that lebanon is not at war with israel. the war we are told is between israel and hezbollah. anyway to answer your question, no body ever wins a war. considering the fact that people die on both sides, how can there be victory? one army can defeat another but that does not mean that it has conqured. i support Israels right to defend itself and i pray they defeat hezbollah once and for all, but both sides cannot win. winning is about not losing. if you lose men, women and children, how can you win? the "victory" in this fight will be for all manking if terrorist organisations are forever eliminated.

Your question is deceptive. Israel is not fighting Lebanon, notwithstanding the distorted news footage of "civilian" deaths. My view is, that in taking on Hezbollah, Israel is fighting as much for Lebanon's right to exist as her own; so victory for one would be victory for both.

The answer to 'wildeep' above, is that, if Hezbollah are in control in Lebanon, then they must be regarded as the effective government. Lebanon can't say "nothing to do with us gov". they have allowed their country to be taken over. The answer to your question, is that, Israel must be allowed to defend itself from terrorist acts. I would have thought that was obvious.
