How come America is so racist as a country when it claims itself to be a so-called 'melting-pot'? I have personally experienced racism in America and would like to say it can not only be very upsetting, but very disturbing as well, especially when you are deliberately picked on for nothing when the 'white' guy is never troubled at all by members of any other race.

Its because the American people hold grudges on everything and anything. I was born here and raised here in California, and I see racism everywhere, I myself think its because there's so many skin heads around here and also that our president is practically like Hitler. I'm praying that racism stops soon....

First of all, whites are victims just as much as anyone else...to think otherwise is foolish. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and others drive just as much of a wedge between people, when they could use their influence to unify.

Part of the reason is upbringing. I live in an area where there are many people who were raised to think that others are inferior. Doesn't make it right, but it does exist. Usually, those people, when exposed to other races on more than a cursory level can sway their opinions.

Another reason is blame for inadequacies. You'll hear people ***** and moan that they couldn't get a job because a black guy, a mexican, or an asian got it. Instead of looking at what they may have done wrong, they need a target.

The media has to take some blame here. You're more likely to hear of a black man commiting a crime than a white man.

And let's drop some of this on the gov't, just for good measure. I needed to collect a form of gov't assistance at one point in my life. Because I was white (I don't carry a Bureau of Indian Affairs card, I find them insulting), I could only collect for 90 days. No extensions or anything. Had I been a minority, I would have been eligible for better coverage for at least 1 year. Affimative action, rather than requiring the best person for the job, created a quota system. The gov't doesn't so much give a hand up these days, giving people a hand to better themselves; it gives a hand out, allowing a certain complacency. It does it knowingly, because if they can keep people focused on their differences, those same people won't see what the things that we should be truly outraged by.

Racism will never cease to exist. As long as you have people with different skin color, you will have racism. It's human nature to think that some people are better than others. And people tend to blame that on racial differences. Not only is there racism in America, but all throughout the world. I'm sure there are still neo nazis in Germany, and racists all around the world. For you to single out America, well, that sir or madam, is racist in itself.

If the 'white guy' is never troubled, why are we called racists if we try to start the NAAWP? Why can Blacks and Hispanics have exclusive clubs, but when whites have one, it's racist. Why is it that only whites can be racist?

Why is the world so racist? Tell me a place in the world where there's no racism and take me there with you! its sad but there is a lot of racism in America, somewhat less than in other countries. And yes, it is horrible to receive evil looks from people just because you're different, and it is sad that there are people who would rather judge you that way then get to know you right off the bat.

it's racist because it's based on a slave culture where people were sold as possessions for white folks. Kinda like kitchen products are sold as labour saving devices today.

Black people still feel resentment while white people still tell them what to do.

Of course, the original land was cleansed of the original inhabitants by killing them off or pushing them into crappy areas where no-one in their right mind would want to live. A bit like sticking animals in a zoo so they can't hurt you.

While greedy white folks rule the country, white supremacy racism will still abound. As soon as greedy black folks get into power, I'm sure the whole racism thing will be turned on it's head and white guys will be building higher electric fences.

The worst part is that america globally exports racial advertising & stereotyping from it's hollywood advertising depot on a regular basis, so any dumb, naive wannabe wanksta can justify his racial hatreds because it's a commonplace event in certain "hoods".

roll on equality...

Just because YOU had ONE bad experience doesn't mean that everyone is like that. Maybe if you had visit people from California, you would have a different view of people.

I must say, people of the coasts are usually nicer than people of the mid-west or mid-east. California, I believe, is a melting pot. We have people of every rac enad every nature living together peacefully. Sure, we all ahve some trouble with gangs and racism, but what country doesn't? I'm sure your country isn't the perfect one either. I'm sure your government has issues and your people enjoy hating others (like Americans?) but that's something you yourself can't control.

If you do dislike America THAT much, then stop using our products. I'm sure our things are just as crappy as our country. We don't see why people form China rip off our designer stuff, or people of India ripping of Hollywood (Bollywood?!).
Please take a stand and stick to it. If you hate America, then hate it all, people AND products.

Why do black people living in England speak perfect English and the black people living in the USA can hardly be understood by non-black Americans? Why do black people in the USA have so many 'black only' organizations? Why do black people living in the USA account for approximately 10 times more violent crimes than non-black people per capita?

The answers to these questions help you to understand why some people may view people of another skin color differently, but this does not really address the cause.

I do not know what your color is, but in the USA, the black culture is unique. The black culture teaches its members to hate white people based on the color of their skin. The liberals in our government have told them that they cannot survive without government aid, basically because they are inferior.

Also in the USA, many people believe in evolution, which as you probably know, teaches that there are different 'races'. In fact, the whole concept of evolution was developed by people who wanted to justify the slave trade. Darwin's book, "On The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life" was a racist book.

Hitler and Stalin, who read Darwin's writings and were true believers in evolution, agreed that the different 'races' among men represented more advanced stages of evolution, with Jews and black people the lower, or more 'ape' stages. Their mass murder of millions of people during the last century was simply the logical conclusion of evolution, the strong devouring the weak to advance the species.

These types of beliefs help foster racism. And not necessarily hatred, simply the cold, logical purpose for advancing mankind.

As a Christian, I believe the Bible, which states that we are all of one blood and one race, the human race. We all have one set of parents and are all brothers and sisters. Skin color does not make a person a different 'race' at all.

Its funny when you say " the white guy is never troubled at all by members of any other race", im not even white and can see the racisim towards them. Racisim is everywhere and sometimes when people come to America they bring over their racist views from their country contributing them to our society. Just like racist Canadians such as yourself.

You must have met millions of people to make that comment. I'm sorry you have had such a bad experience, but aren't you doing the same thing. You are taking the experience of some individuals and blaming an entire nation. This is why we have wars. Should I call all black people racists because a few of them called me a honky white boy, give me a break!

Aren't you being racist by saying " Why is America SO racist?"

Your putting down of all Americans for the actions of a few lacks tolerance, understanding and is a gross generalization; hence all the ingredients of racism.

First - as a white guy...you have no idea how oppressed white males are in America...we are the greatest unrecognized minority...with NO consideration.

Secondly - America pays special homage to minority groups that have strong lobby representation in Washington DC.

lastly...if you listen to special interest minority groups or celebrities like Tom Joyner...usually protected by their status alone...listen to what they say about other minorities...you'll see a white man sent to jail for uttering the same words.

We are a beautiful and diverse melting pot...as long as we recognize minority status...we will have racist minorities.
