I'm sure there are many wonderful, right-minded people in America (a whole country can't be lunatics, can they?) but the current regime in the Whitehouse is making America the hate target of the world with its support for the fascists in Israel. Not to mention the far right religious fanatics and the seeming unwillingness to acknowledge the importance of acting on climate change. But as Bush fiddled the election, what can you expect?

I'm in the UK too.

Sorry but you seem to leave yourself wide open for abuse . Hollywood has a lot to answer for , portraying Americans as hero's of this war and that war and shoving american ideals down other peoples mouths . Sure america is a sucess with it's mc donalds , walmart and microsoft . But you all seem to forget where you came from and what others have achieved in past centurys . You nation was built on slavery , the sweat of others . Just because some do not agree with your ways it do not mean they have no moral values . Realize this and maybe some will start to warm up to america .

The answer is never unfortunately. America is great, the people too, but the rest of the world just want to 'hate America'. America 'cant do anything right' according to everybody else. But if America did'nt try and take care of the rest of us 'civilised' people, who the hell would. America are damned if they do and damned if they dont. I sure as hell would'nt want to have to rely on the appeasers of the world the EU, who bury their head in the sand and hope everything will go away, the way they did during World War ll. At least America have the guts to stand up for whats right. God bless America, they are the best friend we Brits have got.

The Americans in general are decent people, having recently been to Chicago, I would have to say there pretty much good, fun people. Its not the Americans in general just the repubs and the back water rednecks that are the problem after all they voted the majority for Bush! Once he is gone you may find the USA will have better standards...After all with a tyrant in the White house its to be expected that they get such slagging....

I'm American and I don't care. I get a good laugh at all the "little people" who don't see the big picture.
Those that believe, "If we would just sit down and talk to the Osamas of the world we would understand them and they would understand us and then we will give them a big hug and the rain clouds will clear and the sun will come out and the flowers will bloom and the Jews and the Arabs will go on picnics together, and the world will live in peace forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever.....

I do not feel it is America the every day people that are being slated. It is Bush and I have to say Blair who are responsible
for all this hatred. I feel very sorry for the people of America just like us they too are being put at risk by not standing up to Israel and condemning their actions.I feel it is the politicians who need to search their own consciences, not the everyday people who are in the end the ones who have to pay the consequences of the politicians actions.

It disgusts me that anyone from the UK could say that. I have friends who are off in Irag, Afghan etc. fighting a war for those bastards. Does it not make you mad that Blair is eating from Bush's hands? You are obviously uninformaed and have based all your opinions on America from what you've seen on 'Friends'... Yeah Joey's a funny guy and Chandler a 'hoot'. But do me a favour and whatch some 'Newsnight'.

Look, I hate America (the Government) because it's totally unfair with the world in general and always on Israeli side, if it is looking toward things responsibly then my point of view would have changed, but I don't hate American people, they are good but they know nothing about what's gonging on if American people wake up and look around and don't believe everything that bush and his administration says then they would have been better, they deserve better. that's all.

theres a lot more that just preach good moral values.. america/americans should learn to look at themselves as others see them more often. Stop thinking you are the world. You are so self important that over half your population cant even point to other countries on a map... god save america, from itself...

When America stops abusing the rest of the world!

This is the country that brought us Guantanamo Bay, executes prisoners if they are black but seldom if white, goes to war against a sovereign state on the basis of a false set of allegations, etc.
