look at your Hard disc drive in the 'my computer' section. If you're formatting you're going to lose everything so back everything up on CDRs or something. Right click and go to Format. 5 days later... you should be set.

First of all, why do you want to format your hard drive (you cannot 'format a computer')? If you format your drive you will lose EVERYTHING, and only expensive data forensics will retrieve your data. Do you have the installation media (a Windows, Linux or Mac OS installation disk)?

Put a floppy in the A:/ drive, open a command console and type 'sys a' (I think). This will make your floppy bootable. Make sure you have aprogram called 'fdisk' on the floppy. Boot from the floppy and use fdisk to wipe your partitions. Then create new partitions.

PS. Check all of the above, I don't use Windows any more, so I'm typing all this from memory.
