Most people know that hentai is anime that is usually sexual in nature but not everyone knows that some hentais have REAL story-lines and actually are worth watching. And probably not everyone realizes that 75% of the anime OVAs out there (especially the fighter girl ones) border on being hentai.
Someone said hentai is like porn but that's not really all that accurate considering a lot of hentai releases are "obscured" and porn usually isn't. I've never met anyone who's actually watched porn for the story-lines (and i doubt i ever will) but hentais actually could exist and be decent to watch even if the sex was totally removed from them, some at least.
It's easier to approach hentai if you know about the people that create it and their historical background and culture (i.e. mentality about sex). When i first saw hentai i was a little bit uneasy but it didn't take long to get used to it simply because your comfort levels on things depend on how you understand them.
I know this is an overly-technical answer but it's easy for someone who's simply against hentai to get on here and say bad things and just start some ruckuss about it rather than just say they don't like it. It's definately not for kids and definately takes a level of open-mindedness to deal with.
Summing up, hentai is okay....it's just about open-mindedness and how far your imagination can go and understanding that a little perversion is really healthy.

Liking hentai will not harm your physical health. Trying to do anything you see in hentai probably will.
