I watched it, it was so sad.
I think she played the part so well.
I also lost a parent to cancer in a very similar way to you, it was my dad he was only 45 at the time.
Thinking of you at this sad time in our lives, I know it was only a programme but it does bring everything back as if it were yesterday.

For me, it was one of the most moving episodes of a soap I have ever seen. It was so touching, and kept a realism about it. The actress who played Alice and the actor who plays Sam, both deserves recognition for who sensitively they portrayed that situation. I cared for many people over the years with cancer, I trained to be a nurse when I left college at the end of the 70's, the whole cancer care issue has progressed so far now, but there is still this very sensitive issue of being able to 'help' someone to pass away peacefully, something that shoud be really tackled now

Like you I was in tears aswell. Cancer is a big issue in my life. I lost my nanna when I was 11, she was 52 and had Ovarian Cancer and then secondry which finished her. My dad found out he had prostrate cancer a week before he was due to walk me down the isle, he is ok and beat it, but it has made us closer as a family. So much so we have raised £2000 since may 2006, and last year whilst he had cancer we raised £5000 again for Marie Curie Cancer Care and Cancer Research UK.

I didn't see it but a friend of mine whose mum currently has terminal cancer was distraught after watching it and we had a long talk afterwards as she found the programme so upsetting. On a positive, my friend had been burying her head in the sand so it was good that she spoke about the situation.
I'm so sorry about your mum, at least her pain is gone and she can now watch over you forever. x

I didn't watch it because it was too sad and I guessed what might happen. Don't watch things that will upset you and remind you of sad times remember happy things about your Mum I'm sure she wouldn't want you sad. If anyone sends you silly replies today ignore them too no doubt you will feel a bit fragile for a little while, be strong for your Mum. Take care.

I saw it - and yes it was really sad - Emmerdale seem to really do these types of topics well - its like when Trisha died - I cried and cried when Marlon had to make the decision to turn off the life support machine. Last nights episode was very moving.

Yes, it was sad. Have had to watch my partner die slowly such as waste.
Your mum will always be in your heart like my Hazel is. God Bless!

Actually i don't watch soap opera's they dramaticize everything and I think it got boring after the the first 5 minutes of broadcasting.
I am touched by your story though.
