chase the solicitor and tell them that they are going to break the verbal contract with you and you would like to see the lack of professionalism shown reflected in the reduced price you are going to pay them.

Once they stop laughing you might get something done.

I work for a conveyancing solicitors and trust me solicitors are a pain in the ars.e. They can't be bothered to talk to you, ask to speak to the secretary because they will be more willing to give you their time, although they may just take a message. Be persistent to get your answer although also charming so that they will be willing to give you an answer or call you back with any details, explain that it's really difficult planning a move without knowing a date and although your are aware it could change at the last minute if they could give you something to go on it would be a start.

Good luck and use your feminine charm to get what you want.

I think you should contact your solicitor again and explain that you have everything booked for Saturday, and ask him whether you can be sure of having the keys. It sounds as if you might be a first-time buyer - if there's a chain then it will depend on the rest of the chain whether Friday is possible I'm afraid.

Just go round to your Solicitor and kick his a*se. He has let you down badly, the chances of you completing three days after exchanging are slimmer than England's in the last World Cup. Get him to give you a realistic date for completion and change all your arrangements around that. Then kick his a*se again!!

firstly I never advise anyone to book moving dates etc until exchange has taken place becuase only when that has happened do you get a FIRM date of when you are moving.
Regardless of when you want to move paperwork is still necessary.

The only things you can do is put pressure on your estate agents (who will in turn push the solicitors) and on your solicitors.

It's not very nice leaving it till the last minute i no! We moved in October last year and we exchanged and completed all in the same day! it was hair raising tho. Your solicitor really should give u a date, my suggestion would be to keep pressing and get a deff answer outa them. hope it all goes well xxxxxxxx

tel your solicitor that he will be responsible if you have to move on a later date - he will have to sort out your temp accomodation and the move of your furniture..this will give him a wake-up call and i you are lucky, very lucky, everything will be sorted...dont be scared to take a stand..people are always scared an dthat is why you get stepped on...let him know what yor plans are

you can exchange & complete on the same day but chase your solicitor & get him to tell you exactly what needs to be done & when it will be done.
