She gets so drunk and out of control. Is there something I can put into her whiskey to make her stop? Something to make her pass out so she doesn't make a fool our of herself?

Don't take her out to a bar or around other people. Also, videotape her drunk and then play it for her when she's sober so she can see what an idiot she is when she's drinking.

Nope sooner or later she will be humiliated enough to realize she needs help. Video tape her and make her watch it over and over and over until she gets how ridiculous her behavior is. Encourage her not to drink, slip the bartender $20 to make her drinks really weak (i was a bartender we do that sometimes when we know people can't handle their liquor). This might really stink but have her arrested for public drunkeness a few times, that certainly takes the fun out of it. Do whatever it takes before its too late and she is lost in a bottle forever. Go to any local bar in the afternoon, you'll see them there, they do nothing else, care about nothing else and nobody cares about them, they look 20 years older than they are and they are some of the most miserable creatures on the planet.

I think AA would be a better idea or a intervention with all the people in her life that know she has a problem - tell her how it affects her and you and tell her she needs to go to treatment. don't put something in her drink - that wouldn't help. alcoholics drink to get drunk and part of that is blacking out and passing out so that wouldn't do a thing and it wouldn't be a "friendly" thing of you to do to risk harming her either. Friends should be able to talk - talk to her - she needs rehab or treatment. Losing everything in their worlds does not make an alcoholic stop drinking so passing out would do nothing.

The problem can not be solved unless your friend thinks 'that' as a problem. She herself should decide to control her drinking. You and me can only talk to her like true and good friend but it is up to her to decide about her life. When she has no intention of curbing her drinking, friends can not do much. You can only pray for her.

The problem is, you cant help people who don't want to be helped. If your friend has this problem the only thing you can do is help them find their way out of this destructive path. But one important thing is, if she doesn't want to change you need to decide as her friend if it is wise for you to continue to be there for her? Her problem will only cause you pain.

This is a decision she needs to make so, lay it out on the line.

It is tough, but tough is the only way to go with this...

Good Luck

You can't help a drunk until they realize that the need help. I would just tell them that until they decide to be sober they can drink somewhere else, don't be a enabler.

Video tape her on her drunken, out of control moments & show it to her. See if that will help. It is subtle and does not require you to worry about "adding" anything to the problem.
