They had their peace keepers there ever since the last resolution monitoring Isreal's withdrawl. How could they allow Hezbollah to build up all these rockets?

Then why even have 'peacekeepers' or observers there? Why make the resolutions, why exist?

You raise a great point : Hesbollah is a terrorist organization. Thats why they answer to no one, follow no rules, target whatever(milit or civilian) and need'nt listen to any criticism.

You have to understand that Hezbollah was Not and is Not controlled by the Lebanese Goverment, nor by any other authority, So how would the UN stop what they are doing?
Another thing, the Lebanese army is not able to defend lebanon from Israeli attacks, therefore, there something like an agreement between hezbolah and the lebanese goverment to help protect the southern part of lebanon.

Just an opinion!

Simple math. Take the number of countries in the world. Subtract the number of muslim countries. Then take away the number of countries that have close financial ties to Muslim countries. Then reduce that number by those that have bigger problems and don't care. What you are left with is the number of countries that support Israel in the UN. Oh yeah.. and the UN is a toothless, rudderless organization with no real power or authority.

because the UN is supported economically and politically by the super cop the USA. if kofi annan says UN troops be sent to Lebanon to combat Israel forces the next minute the USA stops funding of the un. most of the countries in the third world mildly criticised Israel. when there is no security for the UN forces, what can it do to save Lebanese people.
