I prefer Pentium 4, because it has faster speed. Celeron is not too bad, though. AMD is slower I think, but don't quote me on that.

Compairing and AMD to a Celeron is stupid, it's like comparing the whole Chevy company with a Ford F150, you really can't cause its a whole to a part.
Now if you were to compair AMD processors to Intel in general, Intel is far better. I used to be an AMD kid, that is all I bought, then I interned as an IT Tech, and got to go to the Intel Premier Channel Confrence. Only Channel Members are alowed to go and Intel tells you all about their new stuff and what is to come.
Intel just put out the Core Duo that have a 2Mb L2 Shared Cache. They are about to put out a new series that have 2 2Mb Caches, not shared, each to their own. Meaning not only are there two cores for double the processing power, there is also to connections from the processor to the chipset and from the chipset to the motherboard, Doubling bandwidth.
AMD isn't even close to there yet
Another thing, if you were to take the equvilant high end processors from each company Intel uses WAY less power as well. The new AMD's use about 180Watts, as opossed to the Intel which uses 75Watts, that is more than 1/2 the power used and near twice the processing power outputted
AMD's are good for somethings, I mean I have an AMD in this computer I am using right now, and it is not terrible, it is pretty good. But if you are looking for "Raw power" as it was put, you want Intel, and if you are looking for "Efficiency" then you want Intel, if you are looking for "just another processor that does stuff" then you want an AMD
I could also get into Hyper Threading and how the two processors work different and why Intel works better, but I won't.
Intel also offers all this for the same or even less price then AMD
Thank You

Asking a question like which will continually make human beings argue between amd and intel . Its a own decision i ought to assert . sure amd can grant better bang on your greenback yet intel can grant better high quality . i myself choose Intel I were making use of a i5 for 3 years now and that i havent had a unmarried situation with it . it is going to nonetheless play all new video games on intense . So that is as a lot as you

Celeron is intel's way of saying "barely makes requirements."
the intel celeron is usually the slowest, cheapest, and partially broken piece of crap on the markeet. i'm not saying this because of a grudge against intel, that seriously how they rate their celerons. i'm a huge intel fan.
unfortunately, the AMD is faster in all fields, because the celerons are the chips that come off the assembly line defective, but still workable. that's why they're heaper.

AMD, celeron is the 2nd cousin of the Pentium series, their cheap
AMD is the definition of quality, but you need a special mother board
you will want a 3.2 ghz, but a 1.8 AMD is faster, cheaper and cooler
intel pushes things around to basically "emulate' the speed, AMD is raw power

It more so depends on what you plan on doing with your computer to determine which processer would be better for you. But since your comparing an AMD to a Celeron, I would say AMD. If you were comparing an AMD to a Pentium, then it depends on user preference.

Between those choices the AMD is the hands-down winner. AMD processors scream for gaming. As for "capacity", the faster the better. Buy the fastest processor you can afford. Or compromise on the speed and add ram. 1GB of ram is not too much and ram brings an AMD processor to life.

Celeron is basically a crippled version of pentium. Why Crawl with a celeron when you can run with amd

I agree with the first answer. I would only add: I only know of one specific 3D animation software that MUST run on an intel using NT OS. I can't think of any other reason except in price/performance.

celrons are pretty low end really
im a amd person, better for gaming.
a amd a64 3200 cpu @ 2200mhz ranks with a p4 3000mhz cpu
amd are rated lower in mhz
but dont be fooled by this
