Im hoping to get a tattoo soon but i want it to be something meaningful. I chose Bipolar because i myself am bipolar. Im having trouble thinking of symbols or images of bipolar. Does anyone have any ideas of what i could use? I'd really appreciate any ideas you can think of.

The symbol for a ships compass - like on a sailing map
or a regular compass with a ray to N for North
& one to S for south
or a globe with points at North and South Poles
How about the theater masks:
one smiles while the other frowns
or Harlequins where one smiles and the other frowns.
or a laughing Buddha and a crying one
or pictures of you happy and sad...
Yin and Yang - the asian symbol
a black rose and a white rose
Two animals from the pole like Polar bears, Orcas, or polar foxes, or snow eagles...

Seriously - if you don't know what you want for you tattoo don't get one. You have to live with it for the rest of your life so choosing something on a whim, or based on some ideas from strangers on the net is a bad idea. If you must get one though - please don't for God's sake "go tribal" unless you can go back to 2002 before it was played out! also any kind of lettering - kanji, Chinese etc - all been done to death - avoid like the plague! Also don't get anything just off the wall in the place. You should think of something important to you and try to get a tattoo based on that, get an original design done for you - it'll cost more but be well worth it fro something that is just yours and not on 100's of other people as well. Or better still, if you have the skill, create your own design.

The Ying and the Yang is about the best you could do for Bipolar. Whatever you choose you will do it on a whim. Then again if you are bipolar then you will hate it two weeks after you get it and like it again a few weeks after that.
Just get is somewhere that you can hide it because you will not want it to show sometimes during the rest of your life.

If you are bipolar then don't get a tattoo as you will regret it 2 seconds afterward. Why anyone would want to get branded for life is beyone me.

When I think of Bipolar, I always associate it with a polar bear for some reason....that would be cute!

i like the world tat w/both poles, yin yang, or a female chic making out with a hermaphrodite bi polar ;o) or a chic making out with a feminine polar bear, thats a bi polar bear

get two cute polar bears next to each other or hugging, one really happy looking and one really upset looking.....
or get a tattoo of with an eqaution of how you feel e.g.
