Kobe is one of the best cities in Japan to live. I have a good image of Kobe. A fashionable and big city but not so crowded as in Tokyo and Osaka.
Kobe is in the Kansai urban area. You can easily go to Osaka that is the second largest city, Kyoto that is an ancient capital and Nara that is also an ancient capital.
Arima-onsen in Kobe is great. I highly recommend it. Mt. Rokko is also great. You can view the whole Kobe from there. You can also see Kansai international airport on a fine day. I like to drive there.

Kobe Luminarie is beautiful. It is an illumination festival held in Christmas season. It's a must see.

I dunno but ive heard they have steaks that are god-like.
