this question had filled my mind.her passion was so wild to be controled.she couldn`t act like madame Home,a potato.what was her main mistake?

The very least she could have done was to be honest. She found her husband dull. Fine, then. If she attached no value to her marriage vows and her loving husband then she should have left them behind long ago.

But she didn't. She USED her husband. She took advantage of his love and forgiveness to suck out every last penny of his wealth and consume it in her own sybaritic lifestyle. And even after all that, she would have tossed him away like garbage if she had been given half a chance.

If instead she had moved away and frittered away the fruits of her own labours on affairs and luxury, nobody could have blamed her - it would have been hers to do with as she wished. Instead, she ruined the lives of at least two innocents who loved her in spite of her faults, and perhaps brought low many others besides.
