Aliens have a humanoid form because of unimaginative people. It is unlikely in the extreme that an alien race which has evolved separately from humans would resemble them.

We picture them in humanoid form because we have never seen an alien to have an actual picture. People commonly report seeing or being abducted by similar looking aliens, but with billions of planets and stars with different evolutionary histories, there is bound to be great differences between species of any planet, just think about how many different species of animals Earth alone has. The possibilities are endless.

Our imaginations are limited to our knowledge of what we have experienced. This is the same reason man has created god in his image. The image conjured in someones mind when you mention god is what? Usually some older man so he appears what we imagine an all knowing being to be like. So, when we imagine what alien life would look like, we use our foundation of personal knowledge to build upon. So, even if sci-fi authors come up with alien races, when they describe them the alien will seem either like us or some animal from the author's knowledge base.
And, [not to change the subject], but yes even though most religious books or bibles say god created man in his image, religion is simply the most successful business ever created by man. There is a "creator", but I don't feel any existing religion has defined that creator properly yet.

If they exist, they might simply be trying to pass.
I think your description is similar to that of the Gray aliens. However, there are also Nordiques, reptilians, insectoids, arthropodic, plasma-type energy forms, and several others, IN LITERATURE AND OTHER ART FORMS.
Just for fun you might check out some of David Icke's work.
You will never look at a politician the same again.
Addendum: See the next poster. The postscript refers to space aliens who were dolphins, in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
The answer is 42

We look the way we do based on the functions we need to perform. We exist only because by some freak of natural cause our planet happens to be the perfect distance away from the sun. What would make this scenario the same elsewhere in the universe?
In other words.. Im clueless
P.S: So long & thanks for all the fish!

dont believe what you see on tv,unless if you encounter it for yourself first hand, becuase no one knows exactly what an alien look like.the term "alien" means some thing, someone or somewhere we are now familiar with,or have never seen before.have you ever watched men in black? all the different types of aliens you can find in that movie lol.
and if they were really from our own future that have travelled back in time to warn us about our impending future, there still is nothing we can do can we?

Yeah.
I think it's hilarious that according to Star Trek and just about every other sci-fi series or movie the only difference between all the races in the universe is where the bumps and/or spots are on their heads. Give us a break!

Aliens in films and pictures take human forms, because they were thought up in human minds. We do not have the capacity to think of anything else. Every alien we think of, we think of it made of things found on earth. Seriously, try and think of an alien that is not made up of something on the periodic table. it just isnt possible. try and think of something that is made of something that humans could'nt even comprehend. I would bet all the money in the world, you keep thinking of something that is on earth, or, something that relates to humans. But, just because he havnt found it yet, does not mean they are not out there, somewhere we have not discovered yet.
As for time travel, i believe it entirely possible. Still, that is just my opinion.

Aliens (the ones supposedly from outer space) are thought to have a basic human form, because they are invented in the minds of humans.
Don't let anybody tell you that ultra-terrestrial aliens really exist. There is no scientific proof or credible testimony to it.

Anything other than a bi-pedal form would only lead to the conclusion that the Human Race is destined for things that make us to far removed so we are shown images and create pictures in our mind not that different from how we are now to make us feel better about ourselves.

If there is intelligent life on other planets and they have evolved to be humanoid in parallel to us without any influence from us, then if must be evidence that God made us in his image... physically.
I reckon its more complex than this, your theory about further evolved descendants travelling back in time is a good one, I've considered this myself.
