I think you've got it wrong.John Lydon was immortalized in Neil Young's song "Hey Hey,My My".Syd was just a mess, and got a lot of notoriety form the movie Syd and Nancy after his death.I had the privilege of seeing Public Image Limited a few years ago and was glad I had the opportunity to see the great Johnny Rotten.I always thought it strange that Neil Young's song mentioned Rotten, but it obviously was about Syd.I guess Rotten just rhymed better.

whats up; Yeah, I study that too, i comprehend, an mind-blowing form of people take him as a punk icon, and that i do no longer completely think of so, I advise he became in basic terms a bass guitarist, and in all probability did greater drugs than he performed the bloody bass.! i do no longer take Johnny Rotten as a punk icon, yet, it may be greater advantageous if atleast him, and not Sid. i think of, Richard Hell would desire to be the punk icon, because he's likewise between the pioneers of punk style. look him up.

The dead are the big icons of rock. Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix and on and on. John Lydon is one of the most influential musicians ever, but as long as he's alive he will not be accorded his due.

Its probably because Sid Vicious died. I honestly don't see why anyone looks up to Sid. He was a heroin addict that killed his girlfriend. Johnny Rotten should get more credit.

Punk is about attitude, not just music. Vicious didn't even really play. He just created the standard attitude for the genre, living fast and dying young.

sid vicious had that attitude that no one else in the band had. even though he was a junkie, an alledged killer and couldn't play the bass, it was his persona that made punk. personaly, i prefer lyndon also...
