I have had horrible rt. sided lower abdominal (pelvic pain) for about 6 months now--extremely painful and worsening the last two months. I am 22, not and never have been sexually active-appendix taken out at 16...been in and out of the dr's office. april had a laparoscopy cuz 2 ultrasounds showed fluid and sml cysts on my ovary-laparoscopy "looked normal"-was put on b.c. and pain still didn't go away...in June it started getting a lot worse and i went back to the doc. and he refered me to a specialist (who did nothing)-been bouncing back and forth btwn.those 2 and the er...at er, in july had ct scan-normal, no urinary probs in tests either-in tons of horrible pain (on vicodin and loads of motrin, but i'm still in pain)
does anyone (esp. medical prof.) have any idea what else can be causing it or what i can ask/tell my docs to get more help (going in for an mri in 4days)
It's been a hard road and i feel like i'm not getting any answers-just being prescribed more meds. thanks!

Ask your doctor about endometriosis. This is wehre athe lining of your uterus (the stuff that is shed during your period) grows elsewhere...like your fallopian tubes or ovaries. This is extremely painful and often overlooked...it's worth asking your Dr.

i have the same problem with the ovarian cysts. i ve been in and out of the hospital many times, and hyped up on so many meds youd think i were immune to the damn drugs! point being...its a part of womanhood, and some have it worse than others. if you have had cat scans and ultrasounds (as i have), chances are your doctors know what theyre talkig about. i know its frustrating when you dont have an answer, but it isnt like theyre not trying. mine have come and gone over the last few years, and sometimes ot takes quite some time for them to go away. what kinds of bc are you on? maybe you need a higher dose of hormones. i have been on alesse and yasmin since i was 16 (at different times of course), but the yasmin has proven itself to work wonders for me. i would definitely suggest asking many many questions, now matter how silly you think they may be. see a gyno if you can. the cysts just fill with blood, and the pain is alleviated by your menstrual cycle each month. sometimes the cysts dont burst, so the pressure continues for some time. i know, i had one the size of a tennis ball at one time. time is pretty much the most help you can get~good luck :)

sorry to hear of the pain you're experiencing. i had a couple of ovarian cysts over the years... the pain was unbearable!!!! it hurt to stand, sit, walk, drive, lay down, etc. the only time i felt relief was after it ruptured. is your pain similar to someone squeezing your ovary and twisting it? it's possible you could have another cyst. i've heard that dr.'s prescribe BCP's to patients with cysts, like a bandaid for a cut...since it's all hormonal. i'd get a second opinion.

my sister also has a very rare situation which causes her extreme pain. one of her fallopian tubes is literally twisted. so upon ovulation it's non-stop pain. definitely shoot for a second opinion!!! best of luck and i hope your pain goes away soon!

Hi,
Well it may be a taratoma or a dermoid. It's a benign tumor and is sometimes mistaken for a fluid filled cyst. However, they're solid material, sometimes bone, hair, and teeth. The're extremely painful. They can cause twisting in your fallopian tube, and they can push on other organs if they get big enough. Maybe they keep looking for something small and don't see something big.

Have you tried seeing another doctor? Sometimes that's all it takes. If they aren't listening to you, you are entitled to a doctor that does. If that isn't an option, sit your doctor down and say "LOOK! LISTEN TO ME!!"

Sorry you're in so much pain. I've heard that ovarian cysts can be awful.
