I have just come across information to the effect that it is indeed possible to use ordinary tap water to drive your car. Now isn't that sweet? If this is not an answer to the world's crisis of the hole in the sky then what will count as a solution? On the other hand could this be a signal that this is the begining of the water wars that we have heared of being predicted as the wars of the future?

Maybe if cold fusion could be made to work, water could be used as a fuel. BUT ----

A better alternative fuel source would be bio - diesel ( I believe it's called ) which uses a mixture of petroleum & vegetable by - products for fuel, or I believe somebody is even experimenting with grease & fat from cooking. One could simply hook one's George Foreman grill up to the fuel tank of one's car, slap some hot dogs or bacon in it & presto ! Travel & brunch in one sweep. I believe there ARE alternatives to petroleum out there, but an engine running on water ain't in the cards.

the two questions are marvelous, and the techniques are obtainable, a minimum of in part. The exhaust in automobiles does have some unburnt gas, whether the automobiles made now as against those made interior the 1960's have much less unburnt gas, the cost of "scrubbing" the hydrocarbons out of the exhaust and re burning them isn't monetarily possible immediately. so a strategies as burning water: this is obtainable to tutor water back into oxygen and hydrogen, and whilst it burns it is going to become water vapor. the situation is, it takes extra ability to make hydrogen out of water than what burning it produces. as quickly as a inexpensive way of adjusting water back to hydrogen and oxygen is developed i'm optimistic our ability issues could be solved.
