It depends on how many exemptions you claimed on your W2 form. The more exemptions you claim, the less they take out of your check. However, at the end of the tax year, it means you will owe more in taxes. Since you are single, it would be much better for you to claim 0 exemptions, then there will be the maximum amount of taxes taken out of your checks, and hopefully at the end of the year you will either come out even on the taxes you owe, or maybe get a small amount as a tax refund. Single with no dependents is the highest tax bracket there is. I once worked at a (State) job that was so unorganized that it took 10 months for them to even begin to take any taxes at all out of my checks. I ended up having to come up with $1,500 out of my pocket to pay the taxes....and this was a minimum wage job ($6.75 hr.). So, it is very important that you try to make sure they are taking the maximum amount of taxes out of your check every time, so you won't end up owing a large amount to the IRS. Hopes this helps.
