The Yankees made some necessary moves that improved their lineup, but I think the Mets could go all the way.

The Yankees clearly added the most talent at the trading deadline. It's not surprising in their quest to buy another championship. What amazed me was how little they had to give up to get Abreu, Lidle, and Wilson. They didn't have to sacrifice any prospects and only lost a clearly struggling Shawn Chacon. Their juggernaut of a lineup just got scarier. Yes the pitching is shaky this year. But offensively they should put up 5 to 6 runs every game easily. And this might be enough for a World Series championship.

I love what the Detroit Tigers did in getting Casey.. They sorely needed a Lefty bat in their lineup.. hats of to the Tigers on this one already being up big on the White Sox.. As with everyone else.. no other deals really effect any teams in the playoff hunt, except for the Yanks getting Bobby Abreu and Corey Liddle, but as expected from the boss.. I doubt however with Liddles already bad season, switching 2 the AL will not help, and with Abreu, power is lacking this year, so maybe not such a great deal after all.

On paper the Yankees appear to have bettered themselves but YOU STILL HAVE TO PLAY THE GAME. Pitching wins championships and Randy Johnson has sucked big time. Their experiments with Jared Wright and Loser Sydney Ponson have failed miserably. As a Yankee fan I would hope that they have added a decent pitcher in Lidle but time will tell.
What's up with the Sillies?
