my mother is 53 years old and she is sure that she's pregnant.she is going to be 54 years old when the baby is due. I am just wondering if she is going to set a new world record.

Very unlikely to conceive spontaneously after 45 but it has happened. I work as a mom/baby nurse in a very ritzy area and most of our moms are over 35, some even over 45, but most that age have used IVF.

Found some info on your question on the net:

It is very unusual... 42 years old may be possible but 53?! Well, actually there's nothing wrong with that.. As long as your mother concieve the baby in a healthy way.. On the contrary, there is a possibility that the baby might have some abnormalities.. because of the age.. But, as i was saying.. as long as she is a healthy person..not doing anything bad for the baby.. maybe the baby will be also healthy..
The record of the oldest women concieving.. I think is 73 yrs old..
anyway.. good luck to your mom..

I know that the oldest woman to get pregnant without IVF is 59 years old and her name is Dawn Brooke from Great Britain.

My parents know someone who came home from the hospital with her new baby on her 50th birthday (natural, very unexpected). I think the oldest recorded natural birth was at either 56 or 57, but it is indeed extremely rare...

My mom always said that if that were to happen to her, she would teach the kid to call her grandma :-)

OMG.. I have an 84- yr old fellow church member whose 51 yr old daughter just had her first and only child. The new mommy married for the first time at 48, after her doc told her she'd already gone through menopause. Well, guess what... My church friend kidded that they were going to name the little girl "Surprise", but I know that she was only half joking...

It's very, very unusual to get pregnant by natural conception AND carry to term over the age of 42.

probable! I used to have a neighbour who had a baby at fifty two! it just about killed her. Your mom ought to in basic terms be dealing with menopause. purchase her a being pregnant attempt, and if she is, get her to the surgeon as quickly as attainable.
