depends on what you define as a "fast food" place - is it the type of place that gets food to you fast, or the type of place that gets food to you fast by putting a bunch of frozen crap into a fryer? if yes to both questions, then yes, and if no to the second question, then no! in my opinion, i think chipotle is a quick service restaurant; not a fast food restaurant like mcdonald's.

No it's considered "fast casual"; a fairly new restaurant category. These restaurants occupy the domain between "casual dining" and "fast food". Chipotle is a classic example others are Toshis Teriyaki, Baja Fresh, and Boston Market.

I say yes...although the food is "better," the format is the same as a fast food joint. It's also owned by McDonald's so it's hard for me to identify it as anything but fast food

Actually, just came back from MD where I ate at that place twice. It's Mexican food. NOT fast food, per sey, but it's good stuff. They have rice, steak (grilled in really good tangy sauce), chicken, pork, veggies, etc. It's great. Not a lot of food choices, but very healthy stuff, unless you add crap to it. LOL

Even though it's delicious and is of the best quality ingredient wise it's also extremely fattening. But it's a good treat every so often.
