This depends on what you like to do and how much spare cash you have.
When we were kids, my dad got us interested in stamp and coin collecting. We got a small booklet for stamp collecting and a bag of old stamps from a local hobby shop. We spent hours looking for matches in our booklet.
We also started collecting pennies and dimes. It took a while, but it was fun and got us interested in how coins and stamps are collected and preserved.
I like crocheting and quilting. Those hobbies can be quite expensive, but the results are great! You can make great gifts with yarn and fabric.
You can read. This hobby is not very expensive as all you need is a library card.
My library has puzzles that can be checked out. Do you like puzzles? Maybe you can check out some puzzles to do???
I hope you get some good ideas.

depends on what you like... Knit.. crochet.. scrap booking, beading, drawing, doll houses, model cars, puzzles, cooking food or cakes, painting, quilting, sewing, flower arranging, computer programs where you can learn new things.. ie... programs that teach you Microsoft programs or others... you can find free courses at places like Hewlit Packard or Microsoft web sites... craft classes are available at most Continuing ed colleges.. or your local craft centers... find friends who like to do crafts and do it together.. your friend could teach you or you can learn together.. if your friends are not crafty and you want to meet new friends that like hobbies then when you start a class you will surely meet new people... good luck :)
