Us Americans love watching people hit each other and play with balls.

Football will always be millions of times better than soccer. In soccer, you could be sitting in front of the TV for two-plus hours watching the ball go back and forth, and then the final score is
0-0. In football, something is always happening, and you don't have to wait long for a great play to happen. Plus, football teams actually score every game. And it's not some lame score like 2-1, it's 21-17 or higher. Overtime's are better too because it's sudden death (first score wins). That way is more exciting and you don't waste 30 minutes if you don't want to, like in soccer.

Soccer is perceived as too feminine to be considered a sport. Football is a brutal, skillful, and tactile game. Drama occurs on every play whereas in soccer, there are many lulls in the flow of the match. And don't blame us for naming it soccer, that was done by an Englishman, football has been around longer than soccer anyway. I love both games and I can't understand why the world puts down such a great sport while they claim to have the #1 sport in the world. If the world doesn't like football, they have the choice to not watch it like many Americans choose not to watch soccer.

FYI - i love rugby, absolutely despises soccer. Coming from a Rugby background, considering any other sport is taboo But after working for the NFL i learned so much about American Football. You need to know the game to really appreciate and understand it. It's a really great game.
And yes now i love A-Football and Rugby.
What a great combination.

Honestly, American football is part of being American. If you aint American you will have no way in hell of understanding why a bunch of guys will gather up with a budweiser, a grill outside the backyard with steak and hotdogs, and of course the big flat screen TV with NFL on. Its a tradition just like how soccer is a tradition to Europe, we dont understand why you guys like to kick the balls around and run your butts like hell and not score any points and still call it a good game when its a draw. Its all about culture man and I respect soccer because my team is Liverpool!

Although I agree with you on the soccer end of things, I do want to explain the deal with American Football.
You see, here in the States we have an over exaggerated fear of homosexuality, specifically, people thinking that we ourselves are homosexuals. To repress that fear we do the only thing natural, hurt other people. It's 4 downs at a time and it moves very very slow (and there's a lot of groping involved which is kind of ironic) but I think we prove the point that we are definitely not gay.
Hope this clears up some issues.
Now back to your cribbage you limey!!

How do you compare which sport is "better"? It would be kind of futile, wouldn't it?
Tradition, nostalgia, habit, and experiences all play a role in what sports we gravitate to. I have no idea which game is "better", but I do know that I'd rather watch 1000 NFL games before I'm forced to watch another soccer match.

Soccers retarded, you can't throw the ball, go out for passes, run touchdowns, tackle people, sack the quarterback, return a kickoff or a punt for a touchdown, miss a field goal,......oh wait!! I forgot!
You can watch someone kick a ball into a net and probably even get trampled to death by the rest of the fans...weeeeeee what fun

Well to Americans, violent sports are entertaining.
Which could possibly be why boxing, wrestling, and hockey are popular.
It is the result of violent images on tv.
But some people just enjoy watching the guys play.
