wow! so much information! (i mean all the answers so far) a doctor will tell you that you can become pregnant again immediately... they advise you to wait at least a year to give your body time to heal and muscles to tone back up and stuff before you get pregnant again... alot of people dont wait that full year...
of those that do not, i wonder how many of them have/had female problems years later, that i bet they never think might be a result of not having given their body enough recoup time inbetween.... just like people with high blood pressure dont think about the foods or lifestyle they lived that might have put them on the high blood pressure road.. we as humans are rough on our bodies... lol
anyhow... another misconception is that you wont get pregnant while breast-feeding.... wrong again!!! you can and some people have... my sister-in-law got pregnant with her third child when her second child was two months old...
which means that as soon as she got her six week check up after her baby guess what? she "celebrated" and got pregnant again...
just something for you to ponder...

You can get pregnant within 4-6 weeks. Maybe even one month before your first period. The experts are, of course, conflicted. Some say have them close together so they can play, some say 5-years is a good spread for the body, some say whenever you feel comfortable. The most important thing is to speak with your Ob-Gyn. Talk with your significant other about when you want to have another and why.
I really love being pregnant, I could totally be pregnant every year forever. I even like labor, it is so exciting and then seeing the baby...but, fortunately, my husband helps me keep my head and always asks me what would be best for the kids, for my body, if our finances can handle it etc. If you have just had your first, you should talk to your doc right away. The intense desire to be pregnant again can sometimes be hormone fluctuation causing post-partum symptoms (you may not feel depressed but rather elated, it is the same though, and has as much potential for harm or distress.)
You are asking a medical question to be answered by the public at random and you have no way of checking if the answers are coming from a doctor or not...please talk with your doctor, your husband, and your most trusted friends.
Love, light and super congratulations on the new one (if you just had one)

I found the answer to your question on google.com. I pasted it here:
Answer
You can get pregnant as soon as you ovulate. But most women don't ovulate for at least a month. But you can get pregnant at anytime. I know a couple that has two kids that are 10 months apart. That would have made her pregnant one month after giving birth.
Answer
The answer is right away!!! Don't let that old wives tale about not being able to get pregnant until you get a period or if you are breastfeeding! This is A LIE!!! I have a 6 month old baby ( he will be 6 months tomorrow) and I am 7 weeks pregnant. I was seriously misinformed and now I am going to have 4 children under the age of 6!!! Go figure. But I'm still smiling!

Depends on where you are heading with this question. If you are wondering how long it takes to get pregnant again after having a baby, it can happen straight away, I know of people having babies door-step style (nine months apart).
I know people who prefered to have their kids close together, But its a personal choice really. If you think you can handle being a mum to 2 little ones at the same time go for it. My advice would be to wait at least 2 years before having another baby. Enjoy each baby while they are babies, they grow up too quickly!!
Good Luck

The minimum time to wait before trying to get pregant again is ONE YEAR. Anything else is too much of a strain on your body. Just because it is sometimes possible to get pregnant sooner than that doesn't mean you should---just like it's possible to get pregnant at age 12 or age 49, but not without potential health consequences.
It is possible to get pregnant at any time. You should wait at least 4 weeks after the birth before having intercourse, and you should use protection beginning then.

You can get pregnant right away if your cycle starts back up. It varies from woman to woman.
There is no minimum wait time. But most women will have their hands full with the first baby to consider getting pregnant again so quickly.

You can get pregnant right after you have your baby, talk to your doctor or read a site.
Most doctors will give you a paper, and tell you to wait so long before have sex.
They tell you to wait on getting pregnant again, because it puts a lot of strain on your body to be pregnant and to have a child breastfeeding, besides how tired you will be just dealing with one child. and pregnant women need rest, along with woman who have newborns.
good luck

You 'could' get pregnant anytime after you deliver a baby, but you 'should' wait for 9 months to a year to give your body time to recuperate. It's alot harder on our bodies than we realize.

I know of parents who have babies that are 10 months apart, so it's possible to get pregnant right away after you start having normal periods again after delivery.
