Look at his father, who is a notorious Holocaust denier and anti-Semite, and wants to repeal Vatican II, meaning that he thinks the Catholic Church should go back to blaming the Jews for the death of Christ. Look at his movies, not just The Passion of the Christ, but also Braveheart, and even Payback. He has a martyr complex. The man is a nut case. I really don't think people should make excuses for him because he was drunk. Being drunk just released his inhibitions, and let his true feelings out.

He was a drunk raving idiot and should be ashamed of his conduct this doesn't make him a racist. I'm sure there or those who will use this incident as proof his movie the Passion of Christ is anti-Semitic. He made that bed but lots of people blame the Jews for this war I blame faulty politics arrogance and greed under the Bush administration. It doesn't make him racist. We're to hung up these days with persecution complex. It just throws his credibility into question and opens him up for personal attack. It's one more lesson learned through Anheuser-Busch compliments of Spud McKenzie. Call a cab, friends don't let friends drive drunk and drink responsibly. He's dam lucky he didn't kill someone for that he can thank the divine intervention of Jesus through the local police.

At least he was DRUNK!

What about Bush and Blair chat! LOL

Additional:

"I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I am deeply ashamed of everything I said, and I apologize to anyone who I have offended," Gibson said in his statement.

Gibson's alleged remarks included: "(Expletive) Jews. The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world."

I kinda agree with the last one, except that I say Zionists not Jews!

His comments were bothersome. It appears that he is Anti-Semitic and that when he is not drunk, he is simply more discreet about his inappropriate beliefs.

It is difficult to live a life full of hatred and it isn't surprising that such a person would want to drown his feelings in alcohol.

I was raised the same way and did the same thing as Mel, but fortunately adulthood has given me a better sense of reality.

People forget that Mel Gibson's dad doesn't believe the holocaust happened, and i'm sure some of that rubbed off on Mel.

it's going to hurt him. some people said the passion of the christ was anti-semitic when it first came out, but they were ignored. now that he's said these things...many people will have no doubt that he's an anti-semite. before, he was seen as a good Christian man, now, he will be seen by many as a racist pig. He can't justify what he said by saying he was drunk and he didn't mean it...psychologists say that what a person says when he/she is drunk is what they think but they wouldn't normally say...in other words he did mean it. Many people have already said that they will never see another one of his movies again...i hate to see him go down like that. i loved signs.
