bacitracin ointment for the infection. The way i deal with those growths is to clip them out and then train the nail to grow right. I use almond oil to strengthen and moisturize my nails too and they look great!!

Well, there are very few ways besides obviously trying to do it yourself which i recommend against. But to prevent ingrown toenails cut your toenails straight across...toe nails should not be cut like fingernails they should be cut a few cm's out and straight across so as not to allow them to catch the skin and become ingrown. I suggest getting this taken care of and cutting your toenails right and never having the problem again. Good luck and be safe.

It is possible to remove an ingrown nail yourself.
However, it is really really painful, and it's easy to miss part of the nail since the nail has probably got an arcane shape and you're working through some obscene levels of pain.
After doing it myself, I would strongly advise going to a doctor, if for no other reason than she has novocaine to make the process almost painless and she will almost certainly remove all offending parts and remove the bad parts from the root, preventing a relapse for a nice, long while.

grab a very very tiny ball of cotton and spread vaseline on it, then with something pointy get it in as far as you can (yeap, it's gonna hurt) and leave it there for like a day.If it hasn't worked by then, you should probably see a doctor, I've done this many many times and I've never had to see a dr because of an ingrown nail.
What you're trying to do is to get the nail to grow outward.

1. Soak your foot in Epsom salt
2. Don't cut your nail, until you see that it has significantly grown.
3. You sound like your toe is ABSOLUTELY infected, I know you hate to hear it, but you have to visit the Doctor. . .You don't want to let your infection worsen.
4. If you have chronic nail infections, the next step is have to see a podiatrist and have them completely remove the toenail.
5. Stop cutting your nails so short. . .remember don't cut them in an oval shape. . .cut them straight accross.
